My HTTR is still white!

Post by decaro »

With help from this forum, I've managed to download and extract new scenarios for HTTR and turn Bastogne from geen to white. But now I can't go back to green even after renaming my files!

Inside the HTTR graphics folder is a map folder with three bitmaps, from left to right: MapPat, MapPat.bmp_bastogne and MapPatA. I believe these were the original names, but all my scenarios are still white. What have I done wrong?

Joe,

It sounds like you have overwritten the originals. Just download them again from her: HTTR DOwnloads

It's a little bit cumbersome and that's why we have changed it for COTA. In the meantime for HTTR I recommend you create a subdirectory within the MapGraphics directory for each alternate set you are using and name them something you can easily recognise - eg Orgininal Map Graphics, Snow Map Graphics etc. Then copy and paste the desired files into the root level MapGraphics directory when you want to apply them. Make sure you copy and paste rather than drag as dragging will just move them and they will get clobbered the next time you repeat the procedure and you won't have your source copy.

Dave,

I managed to obtain the original map files from the HTTR download site, but for some reason they would not extract into the right folder(s).

I don't know how renaming -- right-clicking -- overwrote the bitmap files in the map graphics folder, but the aggrevation it caused was not worth the scenery esthetics. After several unsuccessful attempts to revert to the original map, I decided to uninstall/reinstall HTTR, then add the two patches and the El Savior add-on scenarios. Now everything works.

As for the subfolder advice, I'm afraid it will be a cold day in hell before I decide to change my map graphics again. I will just "pretend" Bastogne has snow on the ground.

I trust there's no snow in the Aegean!

Thanks again,

Joe,

I appreciate your difficulties. It is a bit fiddly and that is why we have instituted and much easier system for managing the map graphics in COTA.
