Draw!! I get a draw!!

Post by AGentry »

Two/three thing I could use help with.

One, I have started a campaign, things seem to be going well, but very often my battle results are Draws. IN a recent campaign I have won battles by ocupying 6 out of 7 Victory hexes, also won a battle with 7,000 point to 1,000 and also in a different battle have taken out 20 odd enemy armour units for only minimal losses, and still only a draw. I also get draws in battle where enemy moral has been crushed?

Having started this campaign I have also forgotten which one it is. Is there away to find out duirng one of the battles which campaign the battle belongs to?

Also during a battle is there a way to remind/find out how may turns are left. Or are they all random.

I know that many of these questions are pretty basic. And the answers ot some could be found in the manual. But I am enjoying great sucess while still being someway from getting the crushing victories I desire. Help would be appreciated.

I'll answer your number of turns question.......lay your cursor on the weather window in the upper right corner of your battle screen, wait a few seconds and the number of turns will appear, be patient.

I have no idea weather your talking about Mega Camps or Camps that came with game or those generated by gamers and added.

As far as Draws, Dec VIcs etc. did you take all Vic Hexes ? Did you exit your troops if required ? Did you find all the hidden Vic Hexes ? And don't try to figure out the scoring system for kills as some of the best brains in this game (including MATRIX) have not been able to explain it. Generally if you feel you won, that's all that counts, as one person once said....."Take all the Vic Hexes, kill all the enemy and damm the score, YOU HAVE WON"

With these words of wisdom I now leave you in the capable hands of the Gurus.

7000 to 1000 would should not have been a draw. You get a DV for 6:1 or 7:1. 3 or 4 to 1 produces a marginal (IIRC), and less than 3:1 gets a draw. You must win by a much bigger margin to get the same result versus a human opponent (PBEM, etc).

I also recommend taking all victory hexes if you are able. Never say "I've got all but one, I'll wait it out for my victory". Take them if you can.

Hey Goblin, I've got a good query for ya, these ratio's u've spoken of are in the manual I'm looking at them right now and one thing that burns my roast is the fact that these are casualty ratios and they don't seem to have any bearing when it comes to actual pinical events in the battles that have a much bigger capacity to determine the end result of the battle. example: agentry said he crushed the enemy's force morale, and not alot fo comparison of each army's progress I 've had battles where I've had 60% of all visable VH's by turn 5-7 and nothing but sporadic retreating crews taking paniced potshots got to continue later going for supper. I believe they are point ratios for the ending score. I know if you capture all vic hexes and break the enemies morale, the game ends.

Hey Bro, I'm back from a great chinese feast and ready to debate.
anyway now that I see you on line Mr gobkins, its the point ratios that I can't figure IF i'm getting force morale gone by turn 3, ran down their HQ under the treads, by turn 5 and Had well over a 1000 enemy hurt to my 23.... my point is that as wounderful as I feel this game is I'm also somewhat disappointed and feel like its some hypathetical matrix programmers last laugh against us goood players to not have the AI be able to recognize and correctly calculate and credit such ridiculous absolute slaughters??? Ah, you finally figured it out -- the AI is a stupid but cunning opponent -- it does seem to have an uncanny ability to p*ss you off. It almost seems to have human qualities on occasion -- sometimes it quits early, othertimes it doesn't know when it's defeated. Frustrating and baffling, isn't it? That's what helps make the game so addictive.

Thanks for that.

Still want to be able to figure out which campaign I started. I have downlaoded a few user campaigns but I 'think' that the one I started was one that came with the game. Its a campaign fighting fomr the Russina side against the Germans. Is there a way during the campaign to identify which campaign the battle belongs to?

Cheers,
A

Unfortunately, no there isn't. The only solution that I can think of is to rename the default Save title for each battle; that way you'll know what campaign you're in.

For example, let's say you start 'Heores of the Motherland' (I think this might be the one you're in) campaign. You buy your core force, deploy, then Save the game. The default title will be something like "Turn 0, SO vs GE, 1941"; rename it "Heroes Battle 1 1941" or something similar.
