Russian Ground Attack Planes

Post by chuck2772 »

I'm really new to version 6.1, and just started playing The Victors (Russia vs. US) campaign. Well, I got attacked by an IL3 Sturm and after it killed my Pershing it started dropping 100Kg bombs. WOW!! We need to buy some of these bombs! It wiped out two 30 cal.'s , a bazooka team and three Ranger squads, and all of them were either one or TWO hexes away. I've now had this happen every time a Russian plane comes in to strafe, so that wasn't just a one time mistake. What's up with this, is it some kind of glitch or can a 220 pound bomb kill 50 men who are 100 yards away and in buildings? Also, at the end of the first battle I had killed 40 tanks and lost 2 (I had a total of 8) and it was still a draw. That seems pretty odd. Seems like the Russians have me out-pointed about 10 to 1 when you consider the 2000 points worth of Arty they have. Tough fight.

Hmmmpf. That's *nothing*. You ought to see what 50kg babies from a Soviet R-5 can do! The amount of damage seems to be inverse to their tonnage.

The Anzacs have these all beat, the 1 ton Daisycutter will mow down troops with about a 6 hex radius.
thanks, John.

To me it seems theres something not quite right in the adjacent hex damage routines.
Fire a sturmtiger, or brumbar ect ect.. at a target using the direct fire button, it always seems like the men within the hex suffer no damgae, but the surrounding hexes sure do!

I definitely agree with you guys, seems like bombs got a lot more lethal in these later releases. Maybe hop into the CL forum and post a topic about this. It'd sure help the guys building that game
