what about airsections in v.7.0

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

what about airsections in v.7.0

Post by stutzkalter »

i'm using the full version 5.1 with updates to 7.0 and i have a problem.
using airsections in PBEM- game (7/43 us versus italy) isn't possible to me. does anyone knows the reason; is still the same problem as in version 5.3 or another bug/ my own mistake?

this problem does only occur in the PBEM- mode not in solitaire.

we had weather clear (1). we also tried it with germany against russia and it still wasn't possible. no airsections to buy. are there special options to know about the weather- conditions? does it matter when player one has more airsections then player two (in our gamen 4 vs. 2)?

the setup was made as an standard 2player PBEM (PBEM-mode). here comes the problem up.

is it possible to setup an PBEM in the 'solitaire- mode' ?

ahh! That explains...

Go to preferences and turn airsections to someting between 1-25. If you want Historical aspect turned off, then do it by hitting rarity Off.

You can play pbem without secure mode by sending save-games. I've played alot like that. Just trust your enemy or cheat as much

I posted a couple messages about this in December. While I still can't get air sections to show up every time, I learned a few things from the responses I got:

-Setting the weather to 1 helps.

-If you had a battle with air sections running, you must exit SPWAW completely for planes to be available again

-Make sure time of day isn't night

-Make sure visibility isn't set too low

-Manually enter the number of air sections; don't leave one at 'default (XXXX)

Also, I found that if you manually set visibility, and then change the weather or time of day setting, your VIS on the map will be different. Just re-enter the visibilty value again. I know some of these things don't 'officially' need to be adjusted for air sections, but it works (usually!) for me.

Skukko's idea of turning of rarity is one I've never seen mentioned before...wish I had

One more thing about planes in PBEM: unless you want your opponent to see the location of all your troops, don't use them. Its an old 'issue' that hasn't been resolved...when one of your planes flies over the map, all of your units are visible to your opponent. They disappear again on the next turn, but sometimes that 'quick look' is all it takes.
