It is reported as a bug because it is different from 3.6.3 and from 3.7.0
Tried using *.SCN and hitting ok. Nothing happens. The other *.SCN and *.SAV files in that folder do not show up as they did before in 3.6.3 and 3.7.0
There isn't one, the game looks at the folder contents on opening based on your specs (*.sav) or (*.scn) or a combo of both. If you asked it to look for .scn there has to be one in the directory on opening or nothing will show.
Add the * then, navigate up a directory. Reverse and go back and the files you are after will appear.
Again not a BUG just the way the program works. Remember when it was written and the fact you are used to much improved software outside of H2/3.
I am quite certain that this is a bug. Here is an image of what happens when you select SAVE AS in 3.7.0 or 3.6.3
All the other files in that directory with *.SCN or *.SAV suffixes appear in the selection window so that you can select one of them or enter a new name, if you choose.
Of course, if AGSI decides that this is intentional, then we'll have to live with it even if I, personally, consider it a step backwards.
Been playing around with this some more, and I think there has been an intentional change to the file structure here.
On launching the game, if you go to "Load File" menu, all *.SCN *.SAV files are in the righthand list.
Once you have started a scene, and choose either Save or Save As, only files with the .SAV extension will show up in that directory. All the times I have tried it, the default *.SAV is in the File Name window.
If you are in the SE, and choose Save As, the first save menu is as above, with the *.SAV extension, but once you name the scene as a .SCN file, then each subsequent Save As command will display *.SCN files in that directory.
