RE: Ipad version?

No worries, just wanted to check before I splurge on the PC version. The Ipad is great for boardgames but I understand the constraints here.

Ipad version?

I know it gets asked about every game and usually the answer is negative, but.....pretty, pretty please? Is it being considered at least?

Love the remake, but one major error

<r> First let me say that I played the Close Combat series to death and am very excited about the remake. The game still has lots of potential, and it looks like you're on the right track.<br/>
<br/>
Now over to the complaining. In the release notes it says that<br/>

RE: squad leader

There are some obvious legacies from Squad Leader in Close Combat, like the prolific use of half squads and infantry smoke grenades (the latter is probably not very realistic in either game).

I actually think Atomic's reason for not including this holds up pretty well. Given the relatively small size of the maps and the short battles, it's more realistic to not ...

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>Most German tanks had a much greater degree of gun depression than did the Russian; that is one reason why they could operate from hull-down and the Russians could not. Shouldn't the Germans have a lower minimum range than the Russians. <e>
</e></QUOTE>

RE: ** Matrix to Publish Talonsoft Games **

<r> Great! I was never a fan of the Campaign series (maybe this time?), but TOAW certainly deserves a new lease of life.<br/>
<br/>
Now how about updating this one while you're at it? <br/>

Off topic but does anyone know if Germany was expecting that the recently captured Russian territory would make them self-sufficient in foodstuffs (kind of a precursor to the Lebensraum idea) or was it irrelevant because of transport problems?

<r> First of all thanks for the tip about the "Good book" thread. I will definitely have to check out some of the authors mentioned there, starting with Strachan.<br/>

RE: Line vs Column

<r> Like with all conflicts the events should be understood in the context of the last war that the participants fought, and in the case of the Napoleonic wars this was the Seven Years' War (French + most others) and American War of Independence (British). <br/>

RE: Line vs Column

<r> Well columns are not just easier to move than columns, they are easier by several degrees of magnitude. <br/>

Another thing to consider is that the standard Napoleonic attack column, the battalion column by divisions, was quite different from a marching column which is what some people ...

Smoke: smoke is generated by combat and each hex has a percentage that reduces LOS. 4 levels of smoke graphics will be shown on map. The smoke effect is combined with weather and terrain to block LOS.

RE: Question about movement and fatigue

<t> Glad to hear. I think fatigue is undermodelled in most wargames, from any period. Running with heavy gear is very tiring, and if it's wet and muddy then simply crossing a small field is extremely slow and tiring.<br/>

(The worst example of undermodelling fatigue is probably in world war ...
