Question about movement and fatigue

The Seven Years’ War was fought across the globe and called by some the first “World War” as virtually every major power participated. In the center of events was Prussia, almost constantly at war and lead by the now legendary Frederick the Great.

Relive the exciting and trying days of Frederick the Great in Horse and Musket: Volume I, the improved and expanded combination of the previous Prussian War Machine and Prussia’s Glory titles. Horse and Musket: Volume I is a reboot of the successful Horse and Musket series, including not only two solid historical titles in one package, but also many new game features, a powerful new editor, and a complete graphics overhaul to an already acclaimed gaming system.

Question about movement and fatigue

Post by Le Tondu »

Will movement be tied into fatigue?

For instance, it has been said that we could have huge maps. A size of 400x400 has been suggested. If a unit marches onto the map at the south edge and marches non-stop 300 hexes north for a distance of 30k, will they arrive on the battlefield in a fresh condition without any fatigue?

-Or does movement incur some fractional amount of fatigue?

Ok, here is another. [:)]

Will units with high fatigue be able to move as far during our 15 minutes turn as units with no fatigue? I'm thinking of very tired men and horses that shouldn't be able to cover as great a distance as their fresher counterparts can.

Checking in to answer a few things....

Units do have combat and movement fatigue as different values.

As units accumulate fatigue, they will get less action points (AP) over time...reducing movement.

Move Fatigue does play a role in combat...if they run into action, they will be less effective.

Glad to hear. I think fatigue is undermodelled in most wargames, from any period. Running with heavy gear is very tiring, and if it's wet and muddy then simply crossing a small field is extremely slow and tiring.

(The worst example of undermodelling fatigue is probably in world war two and modern era games, where soldiers can creep and crawl way way too easily and way too fast. Crawling even a very small distance with equipment is extremely tiresome.)
