RE: So what happens now?

<t> Putting family first is without a doubt the right decision. But at the same time this is very depressing from a wargammer's perspective! This series is the best thing going in the operational level of wargamming. It is a shame that the community is too small so that the developer's can't make a ...

<r> <B><s></s>Retreat Reaction Option.<e></e></B><br/>
<br/>
I think that it is sometimes a bit too easy to surround an isolated unit in that the unit cannot react to the enemy as it undertakes to surround him by occupying all six adjacent hexes. I think that a programmed retreat reaction ...

<t> While speaking about things on the wish lists...<br/>
&nbsp;<br/>
I have read in morte than one occaision (e.g. both Monty and Guderian) that&nbsp;certain commanders would often leave their HQ's and go forward to critical points in the battle so that they can direct on the spot. I think this ...

Yes, I think that I'll change my vote to Normandy 44 and France 40 (though Kursk would be number three)&nbsp;

RE: Future of System Poll...

<t> I&nbsp;have already voted but I think France 1940 should be added to the list. My reasoning is that I think that AA can bring out facets of that most interesting campaign that no other game has ever done before. Also, there could be some very interesting what if's such as giving French better AT ...

Normandy and Kursk (though both of these are slug fests without a lot of maneuever).
&nbsp;
But I think this engine would be great for a Korea 50-53&nbsp;as well and even WWI like Tannenberg and&nbsp;Marne.

BTW, I think the unit emblem (eagle, lightening bolt, etc) could also be fit along with the commander picture in the corner or beside it.

<t> Also, I was thinking that it would be cool if when one right clicks on a peice of terrain and calls up the terrain box that photos could be linked to that terrain object polygon (either by type, such as town or instance, or by insatnce such as Bastone..which would overide the type).&nbsp;Then ...

Immersion Features

As I understand it, BFTB will provide several immersion features such as showing photos of equipment. I was wondering if it will also show photos of the commanders as part of their bio? [&o]

<Yes we will endeavour to include weapon range data ( min, max, effective ).

Will these ranges be shown graphically on the map so when you click on some weapon in the estab the range rings will change to that particular range?

Poor man version of Mines

<t> I know that mines and roadblocks were dropped for this version for better emersion features. Also, I understand that the "right" way to do mines and roadblocks is to make in game modifiable terrain and that this is a big task. But I am thinking that there may be a poor man's way of doing mines ...

<t> Also, I am thinking that the event log would be somehow linked to the replay so that as one scrolls through the replay the event log would scroll along with it. Also, I am thinking that perhaps a some people who aren't that keen for this now might warm up to this once they had it and start ...

RE: Thoughts on the (un)success of CotA (long)

<t> What I think that would help sales the most is to add a Google Erath like 3D viewing option for viewing the map. I am not talking about fancy photo realistic, high eye candy level, &nbsp;3D viewer or animations (nor&nbsp; 3D unit counters of giant tanks or infantry, etc) but rather the ability ...

RE: Game Recording/AAR

<t> This feature would be very high on my list. The idea is that one can not only use it as an AAR but the scenario designers could use this to show what happened historically by proving a "Historical AAR" that one could view after playing&nbsp;a scenario (or before as a "spoiler"). It would really ...

RE: Supply depots

Since supply (and perhaps capture of fuel from allied stockpiles if you believe the BOTB Movie) was such a major factor for the Germans any chance the decision to abstract stockpiles may be rethought for BftB?

RE: Wishlist (cont'd)

<t> To follow up on my post, it seems that one of the big factors both in Tannenburg and in France 1914 leading up to the Marne&nbsp;was to keep gaps from forming in the lines due to poor coordination between commanders of the different units that had to act together to form a line. In a turn based ...

<t> In regard to applying airborne assualt engine to larger scales and other theaters I think a 1914 WW1 version would really be interesting. I am reading a book on the Battle Of Tannenburg and while reading it I can't help thinking that this would make a great battle for AA. Perhaps a Battle of the ...

RE: Wishlist (cont'd)

Have you considered doing a game using this engine at a higher level such as at Bn level say at 5-10 &nbsp;minute intervals? It would be neat to play bigger battles with bigger maps. [8D]
