Re: Close Combat Gateway to Caen for Win10, scrolling

OK, fixed my second issue by limiting the frame rate for "CC Gateway to Caen" only to 60 FPS. I modified the FPS using the Nvidia Control Panel 3D Settings menu, which allows an app-by-app approach to this. So I now can move the CC-CtC game viewing window around the game map using the "rubber band ...

Close Combat Gateway to Caen for Win10, scrolling

I just bought the Windows 10 versions of Wacht am Rhein and Gateway to Caen. My previous versions of CC were for XP. Anyway, although Win10 WaR works well, Win10 GtC has major UI scrolling issues, and both are running on the same PC. Specifically:

1) With the same CC Options menu settings ...

RE: The first problem with v4.50.14b patch so far...

Steve,

What about my second question? In other words, do patches (either regular or beta) contain *all* fixes included in previous patches? If so, one could install the original game, plus the final patch, skip all the intervening patches, and be good to go.

RE: Can elements withdraw from a map?

<t> Too bad; a critical flaw for any campaign system, IMHO. I would be disinclined to buy any more of these unless they fix this. <br/>
<br/>
BTW, in CCIII, I don't recall a "retreat button". Rather one was able to move individual units off the map (which elicited a warning each time). When the ...

Can elements withdraw from a map?

<t> The last game in this series I purchased was Close Combat Wacht am Rhein. In WaR, it appears to be impossible to withdraw from a map once a battle has begun, unlike in earlier games such as Close Combat III (Russian Front). Thus, in WaR, you are forced to fight until defeated, or until the ...

CC patch installation procedures

<t> For WaR, and/or for Matrix CC games in general, is there any particular sequence in which patches are to be installed over the original game version? Or alternatively, does the latest patch always contain all previous fixes, such that all one needs is the original install, with the latest patch ...

RE: The first problem with v4.50.14b patch so far...

<t> I notice that this thread is still going, even though there is a later (most recent, AFAIK) beta patch (CC-WachtamRhein-Update-v45015b.exe). <br/>
<br/>
QUESTIONS:<br/>
1) Is there some reason that we should avoid the later beta patch?<br/>
2) If the later beta patch is OK, can it be ...

As I think I made clear earlier in the thread, I am familiar with the differences between turn-based and real-time games, and I realize that WPO and AE are turn-based. <br/>

Was just attempting to use "continous" mode to get through uninteresting portions of the game ...

Bill,

I hear you.&nbsp; Perhaps you could implement #1 as a "preference", for people playing solitaire against the AI.&nbsp; Wouldn't be much use for people playing against other humans, however.&nbsp;

Details, but they may be details which you can't easily change:<br/>
<br/>
1) Allow player to control what portion of the map they are looking at, even when game running in continuous mode.<br/>
2) Speed up the game. I will attempt to bypass this issue by buying a new PC ...

RE: Is the AE game interface inadequate???

<t> BTW, I am really turn-based game person, since back in the 60's when I bought Avalon Hill's "Jutland". I own about 100 board games, and play turn-based naval/land/air miniatures. I don't usually like real-time game engines. <br/>

I see your point. I probably would play the way you suggest most of the time. I just was hoping I could also "fast forward" from time to time, when needed. What I am seeing in WPO would be more acceptable if I could just keep the screen focus from constantly jumping from ...

RE: Is the AE game interface inadequate???

<t> Terminus, <br/>

The idea was to bypass the numerous minor events which didn't interest me, and jump back in once something significant happened. That's presumably one of the reasons for playing AE on a computer, instead of playing SPI's 1970's board game "War in the Pacific" (which had a ...

RE: Is the AE game interface inadequate???

<t> BTW, turning on animations and combat summaries is not the solution I am looking for, as the animations don't really appeal to me. The idea was to read combat summaries only when I detected something interesting was happening (or likely to happen), and I hit <f9>. <br/>

Is the AE game interface inadequate???

<t> Hi all,<br/>
<br/>
I was considering buying this game, but am having reservations. Reason is, I bought WPO (similar game system) several years ago, but never really played it. Recently, to decide if I could live with the AE game system, I've started playing one of the WPO campaigns, set on ...

WPO engine continuous turn cycle issue

<t> I've had this game since it came out, but put it aside for various reasons. I am now giving the game a 2nd chance, and am practicing gameplay in one of the campaigns set on "continuous" turn cycle, with no animations or combat summaries, and delays set as map scroll = 2-s, message delay = 1/10-s ...

Hi Andrew,

BTW, this issue is probably related to the other one I posted called "Northern Flank Campaign Bug". You may want to therefore forward the save game file to development.
