Previous version installed

I am trying to reinstall Strategic Command World At War. I'm getting told another version is already installed. There are no directories or files on my pc from the other version, that I can locate.

RE: Can't advance into next phase!

NEVER NIND! I stumbled on the 'relocate stack' across the Vichy border, and magically teleported them there! Sorry to bother any wandering WIF forum visitors!

Can't advance into next phase!

<t> Solitaire Game. Haven't played in a while. Germany has conquered France, Vichy has been established. I am in the VF Move French Land/Air Axis phase. Several surviving French Units retreated to the safety of Vichy. But there are 2 French Garrison Units on the Maginot line that can only move 1 ...

RE: UNREADABLE FONT SIZE!

<t> Thank you for that bru888. I used to be able to play this in 1024x768. I'm sure I still can't wrap my head around the concept of by making the screen resolution (smaller, even harder to read, makes it easier) but for being able to read the victory conditions, it has at least unscrambled the ...

UNREADABLE FONT SIZE!

<t> Nobody can tell me it's my aging eyes. This game changed from it's original release with updates, expansions, or some type of reformat. I could still read the numbers in the victory conditions as to how many of which type of units need to be destroyed or protected. Not anymore! Even with a ...

RE: It's not a Panzer Division, it's Superman !!

Try playing on the easiest level. You'll get a better play balance that way, and the Allies will have a much more realistic chance to destroy Superman and Lex Luthor.

RE: Has AI been implemented?

Picture playing Chess against yourself. Pretty hard to fool yourself using strategy, considering you're your own opponent. An AI is what's desperately needed to make the game worth the expense.

RE: An Attempt to use MWiF to Simulated WW2 Reasonably Historically

What was 'fake' about the World At War series??? One of the better documentaries regarding World War II out there. Especially when compared to all the revisionist History Crapola Conspiracy Theory Nonsense being cranked out today.

You mean it's not going to look anything like the newly released screenshots, rico? Why do you 'think' those were posted?

Even Battle Academy Looks Superior To This

Not impressed with the preview. Other than an attempt at 3D graphics, this looks like a combination of the Theater of War series and Battle Academy. With both of those games looking superior to this.

RE: Global War - What should I be building in 1939 & 1940?

If you're playing a Solitaire game, it depends on who you want to win. You'll find it's a pretty hollow experience trying to outwit yourself, (like playing Chess against yourself) when you have to play as all sides. At least that's what I discovered. Oh to have an AI, now that winter's here.

RE: Is this historical of Anzio

<t> If I recall the history of Anzio, The Allies established a beachhead of only a few miles, and then proceeded to 'dig in'. Anticipating an immediate counter attack from Field Marshall Albert Kesselring's forces. In reality it took Kesselring time to gather enough forces muster his counter attack ...

RE: AI turn skipped?

<t> I've noticed the same thing in other scenarios. If I had to guess, I would say the PO had chosen not to do anything during it's turn. Which is probably not the actual explanation of what is happening 'under the hood' of this game. I decided not to question it, and just take advantage of the ...

RE: North African Campaign 1940-1942

<t> My British Forces never even made it as far as El Agheila. They were on the outskirts of Mersa Metruh on turn 13, when the message of British Victory popped up. The Designer of the scenario mentions in the description that all kinds of events and messages may pop up during the scenario, and he ...

North African Campaign 1940-1942

<t> Just a heads up. This campaign designed by Samuel Mudd is severely flawed. It's a 121 Turn PO either side. I just mowed through token resistance as the British against weak Italians (ok that part made historical sense) but an almost non existent Rommel, and won the Campaign by December 6, 1940 ...

RE: HOW TO GET A REFUND!

<t> Well you ignored the reality of what I just posted. Most of the World War II in Asia scenarios, are useless to play as a Single Player. If there is no script for the Computer opponent to follow, the Computer will do nothing with it's forces. Literally nothing. 'Veteran Players' of older versions ...

'There is no functional AI for this Scenario'

<t> For those of you who were fooled into thinking there was an AI so you could play this as a Single Player, get used to reading that quite frequently when you go to play some of the most interesting battles of World War II in the Pacific, and find out you can't! Don't buy this unless you're ...

RE: HOW TO GET A REFUND!

<t> I just played the Coral Sea Scenario. I played the Allied side, and assigned the Japanese as the Computer. The game ended after 20 turns as an Allied Victory. No way to tell why. Because the Japanese computer didn't even move a Ship. Kind of like playing the Computer in Chess, only the Computer ...
