RE: Engine Chart & 109K-6?

It is just the extra cannons version of the Bf109K-4, similar to the Bf109G-6 and G-6/R-6. It is not specifically listed as a high-altitude plane.

RE: The Good The Bad & The Indifferent

Great stuff, and a war winning move. Those airfields can be built up so big and the defensive terrain is so good.
I also suspected that something like this would be happening, but declined to mention it. Great theatre these past couple of weeks [8D]

RE: How to improve the performance of my Nachtjagd

<r> As wild weasel says, they are an effective fighting arm, and they can rack up a significant number of kills, albeit not as consistently as the day fighters. Here is my most effective night fighter unit, all kills I think were made at night. These Dorniers seem to be more effective than the early...

RE: How to improve the performance of my Nachtjagd

<t> It is possible to get large numbers of kills with night fighters. I have had turns where the RAF have lost 121, 91 and 82 heavy bombers on raids to Berlin, although I cannot now remember how many of those are shot down by flak and how many by nightfighters.<br/> It does seem to be rather random,...

RE: How to defeat P-51 escorts?

<t> Hmmm, I don't think that the German player really needs any added advantages in 1944. Playing against the AI (as I guess nearly all of us are) and avoiding the large P-51 stacks I am still in turn 190, Feb 1944 shooting down planes at a 3 or 4 to 1 ratio and have a pilot attrition ratio of about...

RE: How to defeat P-51 escorts?

<t> Oh dear, I think that that will create massive game balance issues. What chance do the Allies have against that number of Ta152s coming in that early? With successful deep penetration raids very difficult in 1943 and then again after March 1944 that gives only a couple of months to destroy the G...

RE: [Axis '43GC] 14th turn; first allied advance

It is worth mentioning that the Axis player should also move his German fighters north of Rome as quickly as possible, the allied ground troops get to Foggia and that large group of airfields far more quickly than one might expect, in about four turns if I remember correctly.

RE: How to defeat P-51 escorts?

<t> I think there might have been some confusion over the different patches. In the early patches it was indeed possible to research to get the advanced jet fighters after a couple of months of game time but that is not so in the latest patch, I think advancing two or three months is just about poss...

I used to play 1942: the Pacific Air war a lot, though it must be nearly twenty years old now. Pilot careers, carrier battles, Guadalcanal, what else could one want? Way ahead of its time.

RE: HAIRY TO THE BONE

<t> That is not such a bad result, the number of destroyed Japanese squads is a lot higher than that of the allies. I cannot see any sense in trying to withdraw though, having gone to the effort of getting on the land. This is simply going to have to be a trench battle that will be won over a number...
