Yeah but if you also want transparency in the same same material as you diffuse map you need alpha channel. Otherwise you have to make 2 materials.

Ok I get the skin to work but I have a question. The skin only seems to work for the first mag file in the detail level. Is this correct? Also does it work in the cockpit?

That's wrong info because the exe is not called stars.exe in TGS.

Right click the exe file and create a shortcut. Then go into the shrotcuts properties and add the -filesys comand to the end.
