RE: Unit Descriptions: Air, Naval, Land

<t> That would be a good call for the editor, yes. It is a little-known fact that the Croatian Fascists killed estimates of 500,000 civilians during the war. They were so brutal some Italian commanders ignored orders to work with them and German officers in the field complained to higher-ups about ...

RE: Mother Russia

<t> way back on the very first one the weather line around the Caspian still seems to disappear. I don't think it is an issue of line thickness, I think the problem is that it blends in too well with the map, which is so ... pastel? Maybe if it were just a brighter tint it would be much easier to ...

RE: Unit Descriptions: Air, Naval, Land

<t> I am in the middle of moving and any reference materials I have are deep in the storage area and will be until next spring. I am off to the Mother Russia thread momentarily to see what I can contribute there. I would be willing to try and work up some text explaining WiF units as I understand ...

RE: Unit Descriptions: Air, Naval, Land

<t> That is an excellent write-up! There is a nice "Italy in WWII" website out there somewhere with it's own forum that may be helpful for Italian units. This would be a good example of a spot where you may wish to mention that the WiF counter represents a division that you as The Duce _can_ build ...

RE: Unit Descriptions: Air, Naval, Land

<t> yeah I was re-reading my post today. I forgot to mention the words 'Reserves' and 'Mobilisation'. MIL represent a lot of things actually. In the USA the MIL would probably be National Guard troops, but I think the National Guard was used at division level (as far as complete units) only in WWII ...

<t> yeah that was a lot of money, but in for a dime, in for a dollar, I thought I'd give the pros a try. <br/>

poster putty works good for "WiF on the wall" too...just rotate units 180 degrees to indicate flipped status. I played WiF5 that way, not sure the stacks in Final Edition with all ...

<t> So it would only be removed from the map if the Allies take Asmara, Addis-Ababa, and Mogadishu? very sorry Steve, special code for a single unit....doesn't sound too fun to program. <br/>

RE: Africa Bitmaps

<t> Here is something possibly worth clarifying. The Italian "AOI" TERRitorial can arrive as a reinforcement in Eritrea, Ethiopia, or Italian Somaliland. I would assume it can then draw supply from any city in those countries, cooperate with any other TERR from those countries, and move at 2 MP/hex ...

RE: How large are the WIF-maps?

<t> In my case it wasn't pretty. I went to a pro graphics shop, the type of place developers go to print massive building blueprints, on a recommendation. The four maps cost $130 US. You can get it done far cheaper at say a copy shop, I've had some other games don that way for say $5-10 per map. But ...

RE: How large are the WIF-maps?

<t> I bought a set of 'rolled, not folded' WiF maps from ADG last year and had them professionally laminated with a dry-erase coating. They are the best looking WiF maps I have ever used; once laminated you can do without glass or plexi-glass, though I have played many games on plexi-glass as well ...

<t> [ re: Zeppelins - DO NOT go see the movie "Flyboys" just so you can see a nice CGI version of a WWI dogfight between French bi-planes, German tri-planes, and one Zeppelin, as cool as the trailer looked. That was one of the worst clichéd, stereotypical, hackneyed, crappiest movies I've ever seen ...

this board makes me want to go back into computer programming. I walked away from C++ proficiency to move into forestry and outdoor work, but I'm suddenly missing subroutine calls and function libraries and everything else.
