<r> So, this is still in the making, but since I'm hoping for extended map size and extended number of units per side, I haven't really done much the last few years but refining the current map and finalizing the OOBs for both sides (not only for southern Sweden but for northern Sweden and ...
<t> I just noticed that with a six-hour time scale, Soviet units can't reach mainland Sweden in one turn, so that'll allow the Swedish Air Force to make at least one attack (if they can spot the invasion force, I'll have to test that later), for the coastal defences, I've been thinking along the ...
<r> Just wanted to share a little bit on what I've been working (on and off) on for the last five years...<br/> <br/> As most of you know, the Nordic Light scenario that comes pre-installed with later versions of TOAW III features a Russian invasion of Sweden and Finland based on the (in Sweden ...
<r> I don't know how much of this helps, but it won't hurt so...<br/> <br/> I collected a few documents relating to the Battle of Berlin for a Close Combat 5-mod a few years ago. Tank strengths, unit deployment maps and other tidbits of information. I've made them available here:<br/> <br/> <URL ...
<t> Thanks for the tips!<br/> <br/> As I am redoing the equipment db the Swedes will be using Assault Rifle Squads, but then again I can change the ratings to take into account the "soft" factors.<br/> <br/> The main difference between the Swedish Army in ~1990 and the Red Army at the same time ...
<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>ORIGINAL: ColinWright <br/> <br/> Either way, I would say. Two considerations: is the manpower more or less than the average squad? If they are twelve man squads to start with, for example, you might want to go with the latter of the two alternatives you've mentioned. Then ...
<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>ORIGINAL: L`zard<br/> <br/> Am I correct here? Your planning to build the OB down to sqd size <U><s></s>Units<e></e></U>?? IE; you'll have sqd size units on-map at the start?<br/> <br/> I didn't pick that out of your original post, so I'm sort of at a loss, eh ...
<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>Spread the support weaps throughout the 'frontline' units, simply because the 'player' is at an 'Operational' level of cmd, and there-for doesn't have the ability to affect how lower 'Tactical' formations support units are deployed. By which I mean change which unit gets the ...
Yeah, Pelle has been of great help to me, but I didn't know he had a new site after TDG went down, so thanks for the link! It won't help very much in this particular case though as I'm creating a new equipment database and won't be using the original one. [:)]
<t> I am planning on creating a scenario involving a Soviet invasion of Sweden based on the Operation Garbo book series just as the scenario Nordic Light, but on 2.5 km/hex scale, and the map is all but done, so I'm focusing a bit more on the OOB now.<br/> <br/> I'm going to use a modified ...
<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>ORIGINAL: Boonierat<br/> <br/> I've tried that, adding or deleting entries, and no matter what I do there's still 2018 slots left hehe [;)] <e>
</e></QUOTE> <br/> Ahhh, didn't notice that. I haven't tested, but I would guess the game would still recognize the ...
<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>ORIGINAL: Boonierat<br/> <br/> It looks like the BioEd list is limited to 2018 slots, am I correct? <e>
</e></QUOTE> <br/> Actually no. <E>:)</E> Either you klick on tab P8 and chose "insert after" or "insert before" (or whatever it says), or you edit the xml ...
Legun, no matter how many unplayable hexes I add to the top and bottom, no second weather zone is available. No big problem really, but it'd be nice to get it to work.
<r> OMSBON was a special operations motorized brigade created by NKVD in 1941 to prepare for the destruction of important places and sites in Moscow, but also acted in an intelligence and counter-intelligence role. The manual states that any scenario with a north-to-south lenght of 600-1199 km should have two weather zones, but testing this with a 300x300 hex map at 2.5 km/hex (which gives a lenght of 2.5*300=750 km) only gives you one weather zone. Why?
<r> Gamewise, I am not the one to tell, as I have not played TOAW very long, but when striving for realism, the answer is easy: battalions.<br/> <br/> Tanks very seldom fight as individual companies. They almost always act in bigger formations, at least battalion-wise. Added to that, the ...
<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>ORIGINAL: golden delicious<br/> This will be a pain for all of us who automatically go to the map window edges. Also the minimap will still have to scroll the same way.<e>
</e></QUOTE> <br/> Well, it is not a big thing, so just disregard that point. [:)]<br ...
<t> Battalions are best for the 2.5 km/hex scale, IMO.<br/> <br/> A German infantry battalion during WWII generally had less than 2.5 km width when attacking, more like 1 km in bad terrain and when less prepared, and a little more, 1.5-2 km in open terrain and when prepared. The armored battalions ...
