RE: COTA Patch 3

Give arjuna a break, he's the man. I'm surprised there are only this many inquiring posts. 3 patch's in 2 years is great IMHO.

RE: Scenario Suggestions

<t> Before Patton moved north he advocated abandoning Bastogne, so that the German thrust would be able to go further. This was so that when he struck north, more German formations could be cut off and destroyed. Any scenario with the Germs in control of Bastogne might be interesting. This does go ...

The only problem I have with this game is when I get jacked up on coffee and start losing my mind, too many planes, too many ships, where'd my supply convoy's go? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh[X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(]

RE: Game Balance & Historical Accuracy

<t> I think this thread got hijacked by the splitting hairs crowd. Give it a rest and start a another thread. Who care's about the generals, it was the men who fought and died that mattered. In regards to the ACTUAL question, I would have liked to see historical Brigade and Regimental names. The ...

RE: Game Balance & Historical Accuracy

<t> The South had some great leaders in the West, they were just never elevated to higher command positions. Polk and Bragg were Davis favorites, Breckinridge was a threat politically to Davis. Cleburne and others were threats because if allowed ind. command they might unseat him, or so he thought ...

RE: Secession, right or wrong?

<t> There is language in the Constitution that bars secession, provisons added after 1866. If you disagree with the South's right to secede you cannot debate with modern day arguments. No one can even comprehend the state of mind of the typical man then. Many men that fought for the South had ...

RE: The Great McClellan debate from jchatain's thread

<t> If you find anywhere that Pinkerton inflated his numbers on purpose you will have an original document on your hands read by no one before. Estimates were tabulated according to Regiment and Brigade strengths. An up to strength Regiment would have 10 companies of 100 men each. OOB would be in ...

Now that the two best teams have played, we'll have who knows how many months arguing who is really No 1?

RE: Secession, right or wrong?

<t> What no one is hitting on is that this was a power struggle. The South wanted more slave states, more power for them. The South was losing it's power in Congress and were paranoid about abolitionists gaining ground in the North. If the South could acquire more Slave owning states they might be ...

RE: Secession, right or wrong?

All this talk is just splitting hairs and belongs in a poli-sci class. The real story is that the South is an occupied territory and we will reclaim it eventually, we are just waiting for the pathethically pc idiots in DC to screw things up enough.

RE: Divisional Assets...too strung out?

<t> In my opinion I think the command AI does pretty well. Sometimes you want Div. command of some sub-units and not others, those others are usually arty and bases. Unless I want to move them for range or logistics reasons I leave them in place. As for operating out-of-command, I haven't noticed ...

RE: Questions for first time and repeat customers

<t> Just happened across Matrix games this year and purchased HTTR, had to get COTA when it was released. I have always been an Airborne fan, grew up with all the boardgames (Assualt on Crete, Storm over Arnhem etc..). I think this revolutionizes gaming, anyone who plays hex combat games will find ...

RE: Who's Going To Go See "Flags of Our Fathers"?

<t> I definitely want to see this movie, and hopefully will find time. But after reading these posts I have some reservations going in. They were all heroes on Iwo, but the real heroes did not come home. I thought this was a movie more along the lines of the book. To just focus on the ones that ...

Yes, I would agree with you on Stoneman and Pleasonton. But in general it looks like much thought is going into this game, and that indeed bodes well for the rest of us.

RE: Resupply Help!

<t> Thanks for reply, bases in 'waiting' mode not the problem. To be more specific, Folgore at Maleme, scenario is where I am trying to sort this problem out. All the units under XI Fleigerkorps command do not receive basics at all. The division base is sitting on the 2nd SMEP and all units are ...

RE: GENERALS: FINAL RATINGS VALUES

<t> Abel Streight, are you kidding me? I agree with your Upton reference, but he po'd too many high ranking generals to advance any further. But Custer beat Stuart and killed him, also his brigade turned the tide on more than just one occasion. In regards to his flamboyancy, Stuart was even more ...

Resupply Help!

<t> I have the latest patch, I thought the resupply thing was resolved? After the 3rd day in any scenario resupply becomes so debilitating that entire regiments cannot move b/c of fatigue. Basics do not seem to be received, and emergency resupply requests are nonstop. My bases are sitting on the ...

RE: GENERALS: FINAL RATINGS VALUES

<t> I know being critical is the easiest part, but some Cavalry leaders are lacking in the tactical catagory. Custer did not do so well against the Indians, but his use of dismounts(started by Buford) and shock assaults won many a day. Forrest had no equal on the ...
