I'm also looking forward to WITE 2 as the first version is still, IMHO, the best of the breed. Saving my pennies. javascript:void(AddText('[:)]'))

I'm figuring on getting a copy. It's looking good. Besides, it uses hexes and counters not some "first person" camera thing. ;)

RE: Gary Grigsby's War in the East Public Beta Update v1.11.01

Thanks very much. I can't think of another company which supports older games so well. WITE is still one of my favorite games and these improvements will give it yet more life.

Matrix is the best. No one else, that I'm aware of, provides the level of support and number/type of updates as they do. I've been a customer for a long time now and continue to be impressed by this company.

Thanks much,
Ron

Many thanks. I've been thinking seriously about going back to Linux but wasn't sure how/whether Linux could handle Matrix games - to which I'm badly addicted.

Ah, not an issue of you being an idiot - rather, a path-finder. Now, I won't make the same mistake. I'll find a different one. ;)

That sounds reasonable. I'll let you know what I think of it in a while. Unfortunately, my testing will be either solitaire or against the AI as my schedule is too random to commit to a PBEM right now.

Thanks,

RE: Suggested uniform house rules for free setup

<t> Your ideas are certainly interesting. I've seen comments in several threads regarding allowing a certain amount of "free setup" for the Russians and I'd think that at least some of the PBEMers will give your suggestions a try. As for me, I'm still trying to get a handle on some of the ...

<r> OK. So I re-installed the 6_17 version of Java on my PC: in a separate location from the standard version and WiTP Staff came up and initialized the db with no problem. I then initiated a batch load of the data and that went fine for a while. It then failed with the error message: "Couldn't ...
