RE: Your Experience with Naval AI on 215i update

<t> Weibizen,<br/>
<br/>
Ok, thanks for answers. I guess we are stuck we a bad naval AI. Do you think the cause of this is some problem inherent to the design of the game or that most players, and perhaps the designer, are not that interested in naval warfare?<br/>

RE: ATG: Wishlist thread

Webizen,

Thanks, I had forgotten this. This is useful but highlighting or somesuch more visual device would help those of us with weak eyes and overall make it quicker to locate sister units.

No Steam

Hello,

What Matrix games, if any, if bought today, do NOT require Steam?

Thanks

Your Experience with Naval AI on 215i update

<t> Hello,<br/>
<br/>
If there is already a thread for this topic sorry to repeat and please direct me to it. I would be interested to here your results with the Naval AI in New Dawn Random games. Specifically:<br/>

1) Does the AI build the full range of naval units or mainly concentrate ...

New Player Questions

There is a way to change the flag symbols on the units which I have forgotten. Could anyone refresh me? Also, is it true that the AI will now build and fight navies?

Thank you

RE: Easy On The Magic, Please

<t> Hurray for the game designers here! I am so tired of having games that are not as good as they could be because we have to accomodate the 2-5% of players who do multiplayer. The designers of Galactic Civ II said exactly this and never designer for multiplayer and had superior games. And 76mm, I ...

Thanks for the female element

<t> The developers should be thanked for the inclusion of many female characters and units. It is very nice to see a non-sexist adventure strategic game for a change. They may also find they sell more to women and girls, who can be expected to have little interest in games in which the females serve ...

RE: Advanced Tactics: Gold v2.15i Update

<t> The new update looks very good. But where can I find instructions on how to use all the new things? For instance I see we now have generals but I don't know how to rename them or move them or assign them to specific hqs ect. Where is this officer pool you speak of?<br/>

RE: Differences between Pandora and Civ V or Warlock?

<t> SMAC was, and is, the finest turn based strategy game ever made. Among its many extraordinary features were the Social settings and their interactions with the diplomacy. If you opted to be a democracy the Religious and Hive factions did not like you and would eventually go to war with you. The ...

RE: A Model for Hybrid Tactical Combat

Sorry, I read it wrong. Now I understand. Tactical style, move by move, detailed combat is only for stacks led by heroes. All other combat is the method you just described. Excellent. You seem to be anticipating my every wish.

Thanks

RE: A Model for Hybrid Tactical Combat

<t> Much better than I expected. This amount of involment of the player in the tactical battle is exactly what is needed, and often lacking, in many strategic games. I would only question why this system is available only to the stacks that have heroes in them. Why not to all battles?<br/>

But this is excellent! I had expected the standard sorcerer casts level 9 fireball spell and incinerates enemy army. This is much more sophisticated and interesting. I will not mind playing the game with such a magic system at all. Indeed, the more ...

RE: Easy On The Magic, Please

Sorry,

Forgot to put the main reason I don't like magic in fantasy games. Magic is too much of a deus ex machina. I hate to have superior strategy or tactics come to nought just because the enemy has a strong spell to throw.

Easy On The Magic, Please

<t> This may seem a strange request for a fantasy game but I will explain my motives in a minute. I would like to ask the developers if it would be possible to have a setup function with choices something like this:<br/>
A) A heavy magic world<br/>
B) A medium magic world<br/>
C) A light magic ...

Ashbery76,

I have no idea what your reply means. I gave historical examples of a serious subject and you reply something about male-female paintball. Strategy and war games and their forums is not, or should be, a boys club only.
