Your Experience with Naval AI on 215i update

Hello,

If there is already a thread for this topic sorry to repeat and please direct me to it. I would be interested to here your results with the Naval AI in New Dawn Random games. Specifically:

1) Does the AI build the full range of naval units or mainly concentrate on a few types?

2} Can the AI launch and sustain amphib invasions?

3} Can the AI use Carriers?

4} Will Ai's with capital cities placed on small to medium islands get off the island and go to where resources are?

I ask because, of course, there is no point is having worlds with much water if the Ai is not going to do much with navies.

215i update? The current version of ATG is 2.21k.

1) there aren't many ship types
2) no - never seen the AI sustain an invasion
3) no - AI never builds aircraft carriers
4) if speaking about one town starts, then yes

Generally speaking the AI isn't very good at naval warfare. Lancer's EMS Mod has a very good naval aspect to it.

I have some issues with the naval side of Lancer's mod.

If a single sub attacks a significant fleet, and is sunk without doing any damage, the fleet, no matter how important its mission halts. Sorry, that is not the way the world worked. Ships press on into "Harm's Way".

This really frustrated me.

Ok, thanks for answers. I guess we are stuck we a bad naval AI. Do you think the cause of this is some problem inherent to the design of the game or that most players, and perhaps the designer, are not that interested in naval warfare?
When I go to Lancers site and press the download I get a 404-Not found message.

Creating an AI for the ATG random game engine is much more difficult due to its random nature. Coding an AI for a historical simulation is much easier in comparison.

The EMS Mod Suite is here: http://www.vrdesigns.net/scenario.php?nr=183. If you don't have an account at that site you will need to create one to be able to download the mod.

Oh I am interested in a better naval AI, but I am not holding my breath :)
