RE: Strategic Command WW1 Classic is OUT!

<t> I'd like to love the game but it's not likely to happen if the manual lies to me. Playing Central Powers I have Russia at 0% Morale. Russia, however, doesn't appear to notice such nit-picking considerations as it has continued the fight under such a trivial constraint for three consecutive turns ...

RE: Where the hell is the Movement Fast Slide

Found Wally. Don't know how I missed him - but he doesn't seem to slide at all. Just "on" or "off".

Where the hell is the Movement Fast Slide

<t> The subject line says it all. I know it's "there" because p.135 of the manual tells me so, but where "there" is is unaccountably obscure. No location is specified, there's no reference to it anywhere else in the manual, there's no accompanying illustration, and it most certainly isn't noted in ...

FoF on speed!

<t> I played the game years ago, and very happily, on XP. I've now installed the latest version on Win 10 and some of the map management speeds are way out of control. I used to be able to motor comfortably about the map using the cursor, but now the merest touch sends me to the other side of the ...

RE: Anybody still playing FOF?

<t> I'd urge you to reconsider FoF, Cp. The layered system to which bobarossa refers gives you an ACW game experience that's not available anywhere else. On the strategic level you'll be tasked with making long-term construction, armament, and unit-building decisions that will profoundly influence ...

Navigating the Map

<t> Hi all. Just got the game and need to begin with a very simple, perhaps inane, question: is it really the case that a player can't scroll the map? <br/>
<br/>
I'm running XP on 1400x900 and I'm finding that the only way that I can navigate is by clicking on the mini-map. I can't find any ...

RE: D.H. Anderson

No, it's the actual pics themselves.&nbsp; They're the reverse of the images I have in my sources. A quick Google image check confirms that pic531 is actually an image of P.O. Hebert and pic532 is one of Louis Hebert.

RE: D.H. Anderson

Small thing - very small, not worth starting a new thread over - but I think you have the pics of Louis Hebert and Paul Octave Hebert reversed,

RE: Modding Generals' Ratings

I find that when I open the file in Excel the cells aren't aligned anyway. Maybe it's just my inexperience with the format, but since I seem to have to restructure the data anyway I find it easier to do that in the text format.

I'll certainly give Openoffice a look.

RE: Modding Generals' Ratings

<r> I've done something wrong - but I can't figure out what.<br/>
<br/>
I've successfully modified the Generals ratings under the previous patch, but trying to it for the July 1861 scenario under 1.10.9 has got me stymied before I even get to inputting amended values.<br/>

I've opened the ...

RE: Disappearing Generals

<t> Sorry Eric, that wasn't meant to be a swipe. <br/>
<br/>
Part of the issue I'm encountering is that there is no expected behaviour. The system does one thing on one occasion (e.g. all attached commanders show up), something different on another (only the commander of the formation shows up ...

RE: Disappearing Generals

<t> Seems a plausible idea, Mus, but I've done some trial and error testing and that don't seem to be it.&nbsp; Nor does supply level seem to be an issue, nor size of formation (army,corps,division), nor rank of commander, nor presence of telegraph.&nbsp; Just can't pin it down.&nbsp; Maybe it's an ...

RE: Disappearing Generals

<t> Curiouser and curiouser.&nbsp; Continuing the same game (without reinstallation).&nbsp; In a single turn - but two different battles - one reinforcement arrived complete with its full set of attached commanders, and one arrived completely sans commanders.<br/>

RE: Disappearing Generals

That's what I was getting - the general commanding the reinforcing formation only. But now I'm not even getting him.

I'll try reinstalling as Ironclad suggests. Thanks for your attention, guys.

The other Anderson -- by the way, he's a Houston, not a Heron

Yep. And a Robert not a Richard.

I just put in a new name, values, and pic and it all seemed to run okay.

D.H. Anderson

<t> I think I might have stumbled across a minor error in the Commanders List.<br/>
<br/>
Gen797 is listed as Confederate General D.H. Anderson. As far as I know there was no such person, and the portrait is of Robert Herron Anderson - present elsewhere in the list. I doubt that this is specific ...
