Re: antipersonnel (AP) ratings for direct and indirect fire equipment in TOAW 4

Great work Bill!

One of the finest aspects of TOAW scenario design and play [in my opinion] is the tactical/round combat resolution. Over my twenty years of scenario design I have often grappled with the design choice of 'common equipment or scenario specific equipment'? Does it matter? Is it going ...

I seem to remember that the ability to revert to original graphics was included close to release, but I can't find mention of it in documentation.

Operation Coronet 1946?

So do we need the follow-up to Olympic, Operation Coronet? Do we need another difficult aggravating scenario to play? Maybe if I had a map I would be interested in putting the rest together. Does anybody know if there is a 5km/hex map of the Tokyo area floating around? I made a kml file for it, but ...

Re: Pestilence and Replacement Levels

If I want zero replacements for a Force 1 for the first few turns ...

In this case, you make the Start Turn for Replacements equal to later than turn 1.

I believe the rest of your statements are correct, although I don't recall any scenario where Replacements were set to zero then subsequently ...

Re: Olympic v653b

I noticed that the kamikaze's had free range over the airbases at Okinawa and Saipan, causing heavy casualties to the bombers based there. Therefore I moved some fighter cover to those bases and reposted the scenario file in post #1.

Re: Olympic v653b

After the failure documented in the above linked AAR, I tried again. This time I concentrated everything on one beach. It worked out much better, but probably only because the Japs are PO controlled. I managed to clear enough of the coast batteries so that I could land unmolested at the northern ...

Re: Olympic v653b

After battling to secure the Supply Point at Kushikino, I was able to push out from the beachhead and cut thru to Kagoshima and capture the only Jap Supply Point in the area. This will cut off the peninsula south of the combat lines and make it easier to clear. That would give me about 1/3 of what ...

Re: Olympic v653b

At Kushikino I've taken to landing reinforcements away from the beaches in order to avoid the enemy coast batteries. The supply point here has been overrun and the landing force is now out of supply.

Air Report from Turn 2. My losses seem high compared to the Air Superiority Level and the expected effectiveness of the Japanese Air Force at this point in time.

Re: Olympic v653b

I failed to get ashore at Ariake Bay before the turn ended. While TOAW allows coast batteries to shell embarked units every round of the attackers turn and their turn, the embarked units use 50% of a turn to make an amphibious assault and only get one round to make an amphibious assault. If the ...
