Re: How to make PO more aggressive?

Set Formation to Ignore Losses.
Set Units to Ignore Losses.
Set Strategic Bias [by Event] to Berzerk.

Units with low supply will often not act aggressively. [You can make an Event to increase the PO's Supply].
Units with no path to a supply source will often not act aggressively.

I don't think ...

Re: About the Scenarios that come with the Game and others

That AAR was by Larry, so you might ask him what rail mod he uses.

As far as the Allied PO, it's been too long since this was done for me to remember specifics, but probably you are correct in that it is a complex campaign for Elmer to navigate thru. I also think that most players aren't fond of ...

Re: About the Scenarios that come with the Game and others

Regarding Advanced Rules - I've never seen a scenario designed without them, so I think it is very safe to always use them. Maybe for an extreme beginner who is having trouble, turn them off. But then it is almost certain it is not being played the way intended.

Re: About the Scenarios that come with the Game and others

I wonder, how I can have a certain degree of assurance about playing the scenario the way it was meant to be played, because more often than not, there is no description or hints.
It is a shame that some descriptions offer no help. This is more noticeable mostly as you go back further in time and ...

... playing a scenario for hours to then find out, I am not playing it, as it was meant to be played.
An astute observation that, as you can expect, does apply to every version change. More specifically to TOAW IV, the level that scenarios were 'designed or adjusted for TOAW IV' varies from a ...

That's a great guess, but that promo pic is Dick Van Dyke and Barry Van Dyke in Van Dyke and Company (1976).

Re: Totally OT tv actor and movie show

Close! It was 'Kolchak: The Night Stalker'. It ran for two seasons [1974–1975] and was one of those shows that was too good so they canceled it.

I left part of the name in the jpg title, lol. That was one of my favorite shows, because I liked oddball and supernatural creatures. I'm sure I probably ...

Yeah, I was looking at those Wehrkreis locations. Maybe down the road a schedule can be made up for proximity event activation. For now, they are what they are. :?

Re: Escarpment River

No more blowing bridges for sure.
You can put a little river bit in there, then you can have bridges that blow.

You can take the graphics farther by making the river bits invisible, and replacing the escarpment tiles with the river tiles.

Re: End of The Reich Half Week Turns

That's some great research there, thank you so much!

Maybe some should arrive as reinforcements when/if the Allies get within XX hexes of Berlin, while the divisional unit and 3rd rgt. will start on map.

EDIT: Reading those unit histories again, the ones that weren't on map in September arrived ...

Re: End of The Reich Half Week Turns

Working on identifying this formation and its units. The '9 FJ' is easy, its the 9th Fallschirmjager Division. The four Training Regts probably could be excluded as they most likely are included in other formations, but that is not guaranteed. If anybody has info on these units actually being combat ...

Re: D-Day to the Ruhr 1944-45

We all know the Kobayashi Maru scenario. Kirk hacked the program in order to affect a positive outcome for himself. Surprisingly, this was viewed not as a lowly cheat, but as a great accomplishment !! Fascinating.

They are called Reconstituted Units, and are explained in our wonderful manual in the '9.1.8. Replacements' section.

... a bluff or even a double-bluff?
It's been years since that one was worked on so memory may not be clear but I think it is bluff. Since you are testing it I won't have to take the time to do it so that is appreciated.

An update is planned and it is up to third on a to-do list. Any thoughts ...
