Re: Sneak peek to CS: Vietnam 1.31 and Middle East 2.31 updates

I've been playing the CS games since East Front first came out. That's getting on for 30 years, isn't it?

It's so, so amazing that you're still providing support and huge improvements for new versions of these games!

that might not be as much fun

100% with you on that...

But, just wondering, why historically was no consideration apparently made of advancing on a broader front rather than on that single fateful highway? Surely there must have been other routes, even if on minor roads and all leading to a ...

Re: 1944 Market Garden AAR

Interesting!

A doubt, though: were there actually bridges over the Rhine at the time that would have allowed XXX Corps to approach Arnhem from the East?

Wikipedia reckons the Rhine bridge of Rees was completed in 1967, the one at Emmerich two years earlier.

Or, alternatively, to swing East into ...

Re: A Week in Binh Long - Poster Planning Map

Super useful, thanks Jason ! I've been put off playing the really big ones precisely because of a lack of that.

Regrettably haven't been able to play for a while, but once again what a fabulous game this is!

Re: What a gem !

Haven't been able to play a lot recently due to various commitments, but yes I agree entirely!

I've been playing the other, original CS games since they first came out and am amazed at the improvements made to such an old engine and how playing CSV really feels like French Indo-China/Vietnam.

10 ...

Re: NVA running away from airstrikes

Or is it that the airstrike is just not coming in immediately?

What I certainly have seen happen (often!) in CS games is empty trucks, in line of sight, untargeted, unmolested for several turns or more, suddenly deciding it's time to scram the turn I decide maybe to use some spare artillery to grab ...

Re: Campaign Series Vietnam - Questions

Especially for people new to CS games, how to attack enemy units that are entrenched, in bunkers etc, which look "impossible" to capture. There was an interesting discussion of that here on this forum:

RE: Thinking of getting have question

<t> Fun, guaranteed!

Scope, you can start small and get bigger. You can order the scenarios by complexity and I'd highly recommend doing that and working through the easiest ones first, which is exactly what I did 20 years ago with East Front.
But another doubt: I don't see that happening always when (I think!) I'm seeing attack values of 60+ -- which in previous CS games you very, very rarely see.
