Post by carll11 »

Been bothering me for a while now, but when I saw it at happen night too, I have to ask, why do troops get to run away from an airstrike?

If you mean pre-emptively, that doesn't sound at all familiar. What you are describing may be a normal combat retreat result.

Or is it that the airstrike is just not coming in immediately?

What I certainly have seen happen (often!) in CS games is empty trucks, in line of sight, untargeted, unmolested for several turns or more, suddenly deciding it's time to scram the turn I decide maybe to use some spare artillery to grab some extra VPs.

I believe he's referring to the sequence of the animations of an airstrike and the results.

If the unit retreats due to the airstrike, the unit moves first (due to the animation sequence) and then the airstrike comes in when watching in 3D.

As for Vietnam, the way the AI is coded, it doesn't know what is targeting its units - or that it is being targeted at all (by air strikes or artillery).

Ah, I see, ok then thx Jason, so the code executes, this longer than normal animation combat follows....yea I was watching units running away thinking they were escaping damage etc....

Exactly.

They are actually running away because they were likely damaged and "Retreat" was part of the combat results.
