RE: Question re Weather

<t> Ok. Just did some research. Army Group Center was slowed down by almost a week of rain the first of July. So far, I am loving this game--but virtually the entire map turned to mud--not a relatively small area such as was historically encountered. <br/>

And, please note that this is the ...

Question re Weather

<t> I had a huge portion of the map turn to mud in the middle of July. As you would expect, it really bogged me down. My question is--how historical is that? I know how severe the effects of the Rasputitsa were on German movement--but that was during the Spring thaws. Mud, in the middle of July?</t>

RE: First impressions

I'm playing at 1920x1080. When I go into options, it's one of the choices.

Pretty Good!

<t> I just gave this a try and it's a lot of fun! I've only played one scenario with a pre-generated squad, but so far, I'm impressed. There seems to be a lot going on "under the hood." The AI puts down suppressing fire, smoke grenades block LOS, and I had a squad member not respond to a move order ...

Most interesting game I've played on the PC in quite a while. Do what you must to turn this into a mass market product.

Crash Report

<t> Hello, in middle of 1939 campaign, on Stalingrad scenario. All Victory cities captured but one. 9 turns left in scenario. After allied move, game cuts to marginal victory screen, launches into Kursk, and then screen goes black and is unresponsive.<br/>

Question re command

When I push the "tab" button, it gives you the division and regiment designations. I get that. If you push "tab" a second time, you get letters like "D" and "F" on the unit counters. I can't find what this means in the manual.

Brings me back

Hey, I rarely post here but I felt compelled to do so with this title. Somehow I missed it first time around. Mistake. This one is true to wargaming's roots--fun and intuitive. If you're a fellow grognard who cut his teeth on AH and SPI, you're going to enjoy this title. Word.

No Units on Map

What the F?

<t> OK. I used foul language to get you to look. Here's the deal--a lot of war gamers are posting complaints on this forum about this product BEFORE THEY HAVE PLAYED THROUGH A CAMPAIGN. I finished the North Africa campaign and am hooked. Here's the 411--the details they keep whining about are built ...

Here's another gamer who reads often and posts seldom. Keep up the good work and thank you for taking the time to get it right. Don't listen to the Negative Nellies--we, the silent majority, appreciate your effort and give thanks for your talents.

RE: I'll Pass

<t> Thank you for that post. I get so frustrated reading all the negatives out there. How many companies listen to their customers to this extent? How many provide ongoing support for their products YEARS after they were released? How many companies get blasted in forums and just smile and say ...

RE: Very impressed, but need help

<t> The best way to use cavalry is as they were intended--as scouts for the infantry. Hence, they can occupy an enemy owned hex if they begin the turn in the same hex as a friendly unit--simple rule that elegantly captures the true tactics of the times. This saves you from activating an HQ for a ...

RE: How's the AI?

<t> I guess it depends upon what source you consult. Either way, the result was the same--scratch one Frenchie. I do know that several attempts were made to sweep the straights with old s-l-o-w minelayers manned by reservists and merchant marine sailors. They moved so slowly against the current that ...

RE: How's the AI?

<t> Maybe anchorage was a strong word.&nbsp; Suva Bay was a partially sheltered waterway, however.&nbsp; That's why I say anchorage.&nbsp; The Allied fleet anchored in the Greek Islands, not because it was a better place to do so, but because it wasn't exposed to Turkish artillery fire or mines ...

RE: Question re Naval combat results

<t> You can't tell until you get to the strategic interphase.&nbsp; Then you can click on your ships in the screen at the bottom left and see if they're damaged.&nbsp; I think this needs to be fixed--nobody really wants to wait a whole turn to see if you had an overwhelming or a pyrrhic victory ...

RE: How's the AI?

Not really a port--a bay that served as a convenient anchorage.&nbsp; I think there was a fishing village somewhere nearby, so fudge is the right word.&nbsp; Either way, the effect is what's important.
