Brings me back

Hey, I rarely post here but I felt compelled to do so with this title. Somehow I missed it first time around. Mistake. This one is true to wargaming's roots--fun and intuitive. If you're a fellow grognard who cut his teeth on AH and SPI, you're going to enjoy this title. Word.

I am waiting a bit, because I vaguely remember buying Desert Rats years ago and not liking it very much (I forgot why- hey at my age it takes all I have to remember where I left my glasses....) So far the comments look rather positive, but I will wait a bit because it is not clear if this is just Desert Rats with more scenarios. If it is even-steven I will probably buy it as I did with every other wargame worth playing- and a few not quite so...

Right now, while waiting for various HOI3 versions and Shogun 2 to become playable and for WiTE to be survivable for the Germans, I have reverted to SPWW2 and Dominions 3 that seem fresh after not playing for a few years.[:'(]

For a newcomer to the series, this is a very nice compilation at a very fair price. I'd buy it in a minute, if I hadn't played the originals.

IMHO, a fresh coat of paint, more units and more scenarios is not enough. I am surprised someone as talented as Boku could not do more with it. But I guess creating a campaign option, tweaking the AI, or doing any programming improvements at all was not possible.

The newbies to the game will have fun, though! I remember the editors were very nice to work with.

I'm holding off until more info surfaces. I've posted a list of questions in another thread. I've played so many hex based, IGOUGO games I don't want to get into another that's too similar to the others. I typically waffle back and forth 'tween the ones I got but one of this scale I don't have ... thus my interest in CC.
