Ditto to the last question. I have been in hundreds of beta tests, board and computer, over the years, but I do not believe I have ever been so eager to participate in one. I think this project is a passion for a lot of us.

Good news. It is heartening as a devotee of strategic level Civil War games since the Seventies to see this level of interest in this grand project.

The South came really close in 1864, with Lincoln thinking in August he was going to lose re-election in the fall. A raft of Union victories ensured his victory, but it is not hard to come up with a plausible case of Lincoln losing and a negotiated peace with Confederate independence resulting.

A couple of blocks from my house in Dwight, Illinois we have Renfrew Park which commemorates the visit here in 1860 of the Prince of Wales and his hunting prairie chickens at that location. I hope there will eventually be a scenario or a mod that begins with foreign intervention already a fact. The map which includes so much of Mexico and Canada seems to be made for such a scenario!

That is fascinating! I have been interested in this period of Mexican history since viewing the film Juarez (1939) on television back in the 1960s.

I hope scenarios will be developed regarding the French intervention in Mexico. Alternate history scenarios regarding US and/or Confederate intervention in that conflict would be fascinating.

I have my hands on an early bid and it is basically the old Avalon Hill Victory in the Pacific computerized with a few bells and whistles which pleases me to no end.

I looked at the Gone Gold site almost daily. It tended to have news about coming games before other sites. Hard to believe the late 90s is now more than two decades in the rear view mirror.
