Re: So why didn't you buy?

I have Desert War. Really liked the underlying game design. It had some neat design ideas. However, I found the User Interface rather eccentric and clumsy. Lags a bit (maybe due to Java?). Haven't played for ages, so can't remember exactly, but it was more a collection of minor irritations (oh, and ...

RE: Basic Tutorial

<t> Totally agree! Though I would go further and say that the underlying problem is inadequate User Interface design.<br/>
<br/>
Look at the first image you posted - the "call out" boxes you've added would be really useful as tool tips. You've even half designed how the screen should look! We've ...

<t> +1 for DxWnd!<br/>

I couldn't get UV working at all using the much longer process outlined in the original message. However, thanks to a few other recommendations here, I tried DxWnd and it works perfectly! It took less than 10 mins to download and set up and DxWnd handles the screen ...

Understanding the turn sequence

<t> I'm trying to understand how the Air and Ground parts of the turn interact. Having checked the manual, I see the basic outline, but still have questions on the details.<br/>
<br/>
It may just be me, but I've never really "got" how the separate week long air and ground turns work. You run a ...

RE: Make Uncommom Valor Alive Again

The first step would be to get it running on Windows 10. Whatever changes were made to WITP to get it running smooth on anything post-Windows 7, need to be made to UV.

RE: Matrixversion on Steam

<t> Solved it. On my Slitherine account, when I selected "My Games with Steam Keys" it only listed CMANO. When I selected just "My Games", then Northern Inferno appeared and although the Steam Key value is blank, the Matrix key is actually the steam key. So it's a slight quirk in the product key ...

RE: Matrixversion on Steam

I'm wondering exactly the same. I just got my Steam key for Command, but was surprised to see none for Northern Inferno.

That's a bit of pointless duplication if we have to run both versions just to access Steam Workshop on one and Northern Inferno on the other.

RE: windows 10 compatibility testing part 2

Not working in Windows 10 for me. Nothing happens after starting a scenario. It appears to be crashing out at the point you get the video error message. However, I get no message. Scenario editor starts fine so it's nothing to do with map display.
