Eastbourne 2 Braintree 3

Braintree come back from 2-0 down to take all three points. Life is good.

Good luck tomorrow Orm. Tough game away from home.

Best wishes,
Steve
Thank you.

We need all the luck we can get. Especially since we have had a tough couple of weeks and not been either lucky nor successful.
1-4? Surely you cannot be Sirius...

Best wishes,
Steve
Yes, it was unnecessary to concede that goal. But after making 4 goals they didn't take Sirius seriously.

Tougher match expected in a couple of days.

Since our Fantasy Premier League folded last season, I thought I would set up a simple League were we only have to predict the results of the PL matches.
It's the same system that had been used for the European Championship 2016.

Would like to see some of you football aficionados join the league and have some fun.

I would like to participate but I am certain that I would fold after a month or so. Therefore I will abstain.

Yeah I gave up. I thought the league might be a bit of fun and a chance for some good cross-border footy banter but it never really happened so....

Well a new stadium is due to appear nearby but yes the tell-tale cracks are due to appear in early November, with the whole building being condemned shortly thereafter.

It's always sad to see old stadiums get knocked down. Whenever I think of West Ham I still think Upton Park....

They are trying to be the fourth team in Portugal. [:@]
Obviously, every enlightened mind knows that CF Belenenses is the fourth team. [:'(]

As a Wolves supporter, I think we may be soon the fourth team in Portugal. [:)]

I recently saw that a Swedish punter ranked Tottenham as the second strongest team in the premier League for this season. However, he expected the squad to be strengthened somewhat before the trading closed.

Don't Spurs always leave it late? I see Danny Rose has had to issue an apology for inappropriate comments when several pundits suggested that there are other left backs other than Rose...

I think the genuine problem is that Spurs have got to this stage by developing and buying relatively for the long term. Inevitably some players are older on that development cycle and feel they want out now to win something (being kind to Walker here). For buying, its hard to see how, given the wage structure, that Spurs can buy many obviously upgrades to say the core of 13 players who will be in the team most weeks. Equally in a few positions, they clearly think the next generation of players will be very good -- but in a season or two --- and don't want to block off their development.

So Spurs need a natural goal scorer to cover for Kane (again even at their best Jansen and Son are supporting strikers) but who would come and sit and the bench - which is the natural outcome most weeks.

Spurs desperately need depth but can't pay the sort of silly wages that the Manchester clubs or Chelsea do. So there seems to be a gap between a good natural choice first team and their likely stand ins.

The elusive thing, really for the last 4 seasons, is an effective winger who can fit into the controlled passing game but offer pace and something different for some games. Its clear they keep on buying players in the hope they will fit this role and then move them on. Advantage to that is its not a purchase to cover an existing position, its a purchase to give the team a different option.

And Levy does like to do his business late, from Pochettino's comments today seems to be what he is expecting. Not sure this is wise given the fitness demands etc of fitting into his way of playing but there we are.

The gap last season was away at the other top 5 teams and possibly too many away draws against sides prepared to defend. Hard to say if that has been addressed, but the hope has to be that Spurs start this season as they ended last one.

well at least you are not losing 0-3 at home to Burnley. Quite impressed that Chelsea of all clubs have decided to add to the general hilarity of football at the moment.
