RE: Is This Game Playable Yet?

<r> I am a HUGE EiA fan and I bought this game the day it came out. I have not played an enjoyable game on it, yet. Of course I am disappointed. Of course I am eagerly waiting for updates. <br/>
<br/>
But, the sad fact is, I rarely, very rarely check in here for the update I am hoping for. The ...

<t> Allow everything. <br/>
<br/>
We all want Lannes (241D, imho) and my FtF group plays with LaSalle (French cossack unit with morale 5).<br/>
<br/>
Currently I am playing a 1788 campaign as Russia and I really like Suvarov (454B*), even though he'll be sacked come 1800.<br/>

RE: Editor ideas

Edit any and all forces on the map.
Edit money in treasury.
Edit leaders available, including adding new leaders.
Edit date of the game.
Create new units, including guerillas for all countries.

A fine editor is number 1 on my wishlist.

<t> This is an excelent idea.<br/>
<br/>
Even better would be to allow the player to force DOWs - as the game opens or at spesific date.<br/>
<br/>
Add some resilience to computer nations (only surrender after being completely beaten up) and you have many, many different difficulty levels in the ...

<r> 7.5.2.10.1.3 Political Points For Winning/Losing Field Combats: The victor now gains political points and the loser loses them, recorded on the POLITICAL STATUS DISPLAY on the Status Card). RE: anyone else about read to give up??????

<t> As the game is, it is not very enjoyable. Bugs spoil multiplayer games and AI is nowhere near challenging for an experienced EiA player. All that said, I've played a full campaign through it several times [:)]<br/>
<br/>
The game is playable and makes for a nice tutorial for newbies. <br ...

<t> Personally, I think more optional rules is a great idea. The more the merrier! You still dont have to play with any of them, if you dont like them....<br/>
<br/>
Heck, everyone playing EiA FtF plays with houserules on some form of another. And I am used to playing with a lot [:D]<br/>

RE: AI enhancement ideas

<t> Grand strategy for AI.... I see no way to go other than make a custom strategy for each nation that they start with, then, after early goals are met (or AI gives up on them) change to "Beat on the leader" strategy.<br/>
<br/>
Early in the game, the player leading is the one with biggest army ...

RE: Fog of War proposal

<t> On the leaders and fog of war...<br/>
I am certain leaders placement were public knowledge on the boardgame only because of the limitations of, well, playing a boardgame. Keeping information secret without allowing for easy cheating was a factor in the design.<br/>
<br/>
Our group has played ...

We play with all optional rules, except militia conversion. That means economic manipulation also.<br/>

Austerlitz campaign

<t> This is a short AAR from a face to face game. There are a lot of house rules, which I will not explain here, but include random events, new leaders and strict stacking limits. Hardly a guide of any kind, this is purely here for entertainment purposes only. I enjoy reading AARs myself.<br/>

<t> When playing against other people (and not the AI) you can use tactics you know from football. <br/>
For example, if you are French you can Probe a lot and it wont hurt so much, even when you are outguessed. <br/>

<t> This game is full of stories like that.<br/>
Most common "incredible" result is, I think, when Napoleon is terribly outchitted and goes on to win. Sometimes decisively. <br/>

I am afraid there is only one way to master the combat system ...

RE: AAR - Ralegh

<t> EiA is (one of) the most complicated board games ever published.<br/>
<br/>
You can attack your opponents money, manpower, political status or victory points (if you are GB). Also, all nations are different in almost every aspect. What is a winning strategy for France, is most likely a suicide ...
