RE: air group dispand

<t> Just some random comments:<br/>
<br/>
Another thing to remember about the fight or flight issue is that destroyed air groups can be repurchased from the dead pile. Leaving some of those British air units to fight around Singapore can give amazing results...in my current game some British ...

RE: naval bombardment.

<t> Engagement of ships by land units have so many variables in the real world (esp. back in the 1940's) that a WIDE range of outcomes are to be expected. In WitP I have sailed by major CD units and had NOTHING happen. On other occasions, such as a landing, I have been plastered. As a 40+ year ...

RE: off-map convoy

<t> This is stating the obvious to most of you but here goes:<br/>
<br/>
Off map convoys represent South Atlantic or other area convoys that do not enter the Pacific area. All you can do with them is wait for them to unload and then transfer the supplies and fuel with your own ships. They are ...

RE: Allied Heavy Industry (HI) and Refineries

<t> I have to agree with Numdydar that their is little reason to turn off anything on the allied side. In my games as the Allies I have never had much of an issue keeping the forces supplied; excepting some areas of China. There is a need to send oil, fuel and supply to Australia and India but the ...

RE: Coverting xAK to AK

<t> For the allies it is ALWAYS useful to convert ships to AK or AKA's. Repair facilities are not an issue for them and the faster load/unload ability helps with invasions and keeping those small bases supplied. (By 1944 I have so many AKs some have been diverted to supplying small bases)<br/>

RE: Function of Allied Training Command?

<t> In my current game (12/44 Allied) I tried placing 80+ pilots in TRACOM during 1942. The results were never very significant. After a time I moved my 30 or so aces back into combat because they could do more there. I now have pilots with close to 50 kills. I am not sure that having the pilots in ...

RE: ALLIED FIGHTERS - The Numbers: 41-45

<t> I am currently at 12/44 in a boosted Japan PBM game as the allies. I can tell you that many squadrons appear without having a full compliment of aircraft as several others have mentioned. The aircraft that enter the game via squadrons are very significant however.<br/>
<br/>
In this game I ...

RE: Matrix Sale

<t> The others here are correct...WItP AE is very economical when you consider the amount of game play you get. I have put at least 2,000 hours into my current PBEM game much less the previous 3 or 4 games that I played earlier. Just make sure that your the type of person who will like this game ...

RE: Need tips on best pratice to replenish depleted IJN CV squadrons

<t> To answer your direct question. Move the depleted air unit on a CV to a land base and add pilots/planes as needed. Move another prepped unit onto the ship.<br/>
<br/>
Reconstitute destroyed Naval squadrons from sunk carriers and use the extra units for training. Larger ones with good ...

RE: Need tips on best pratice to replenish depleted IJN CV squadrons

<t> You need to set a large number of squadrons to training pilots as soon as possible. Use the many nates and other obsolete planes for this. If experienced pilots are in the units send them into the reserve pool and replace them with new pilots. <br/>
<br/>
I begin by training them to do there ...

RE: OT: Who is to blame for the failure to anticipate the Pearl Harbor attack?

<t> A very interesting discussion. On the U.S.A. side pretty much everyone was complacent for many reasons...from FDR right down to average citizens.<br/>
<br/>
A more interesting question is what if the Japanese had truly understood us and just ignored HI and PI and went straight for the British ...

RE: Most devastating PH results?

<t> In the historical attack on PH the IJN used 36 shallow running torpedoes. The remainder of the Kates used bombs of various types. I haven't added up how many actual torpedo hits occurred but a very high percentage of those 36 actually hit something.<br/>
<br/>
I suppose simulating this would ...

RE: Allied submarine torps vs. DDs.

<t> Your own numbers are indicative of some kind of problem. The numbers in my game are also very unhistorical. <br/>
<br/>
In my game dated 4/22/44 I have had 12 US DD's sunk by 24 inch IJN torpedoes. Historically only three US destroyers and two DE's were sunk by IJN submarines. I think it was ...

RE: Allied submarine torps vs. DDs.

Now that you mention it I seem to recall having 3-5 hits on US DD's that also came up with dud responses. It has been much less prominent since Japanese sub attacks are much less frequent. I think the problem may be affecting both sides.

RE: Allied submarine torps vs. DDs.

<t> There is an issue with torpedoes not exploding when fired at IJN DD's. I am currently up to 4/20/44 in a boosted Japanese game and so far I have sunk EXACTLY 3 DD's with submarine fired torpedoes. One Mk 14 and 2 Mk 10's. Five have been sunk by air dropped torpedoes. At least 15 additional IJN ...

RE: Naval bombardment problem

<t> We have had no problems with bombardments in my current game. Is the TF a bombardment TF? What is he setting the bombardment range to? Also, the aggressiveness rating of the command can be a factor. It sounds like the TF is running a surface engagement attempt rather than a bombardment. I would ...

Dutch aircraft stuck with new Public Beta Patch

<t> In my current WitP AE game the last patch had all the delayed Dutch squadrons show up in Aden. Unfortunately all of them are set to HQ's that block their being placed on ships. I can only guess that this happened because I am already into 1943 so the update didn't work correctly? Will sending ...

USA airframe factories not converting

<t> I have noticed an issue in the USA aircraft production. My factories that convert to the newer airframes do not appear to be doing so. For instance the factory that makes SBD-3's is supposed to convert to SBD-5's but has not done so. I am not in mid May and it still reads as SBD-3. Is there some ...

RE: Accelerationg Japanese airframes

<t> In answer to your post date 6/18/2011 about PDU being on.<br/>
<br/>
Having PDU turned off would only cause a certain amount of inconvenience. The major issue with the P-38, B-17, B-24,P-47 is not a lack of squadrons - it is a lack of air frames. So the only issue turning PDU off would cause ...
