RE: Pauls and Sierans

I may have this wrong, but don't float planes use the port size of the base instead of the AF size?

RE: Pacific War - The Struggle Against Japan 1941-1945

I had VG Pacific War. I never could get anyone to play it. Every time I pulled out the manual, people's eyes would glaze over and they would quickly find an excuse to leave.

RE: 1942 war start what if ideas

<t> I think a Japanese DOW in June 1940 would have been a different situation. The move into north Vietnam was part of an agreement with Vichy to cut supplies to China; the move into south Vietnam was to get bases to attack the rest of the SRA. If Japan had moved in 1940, would an economic embargo ...

RE: 1942 war start what if ideas

<t> Well, France surrendered on June 22, 1940, and Japan moved into Vietnam in September 1940 so it didn't take too long for them to react. Since they spent some time making an agreement with the Vichy government, they could have moved quicker. For a what-if scenario you could have Japan declaring ...

RE: Holding Rangoon ?

<t> Sorry, I know I've just had this game for a short while and I haven't worked my way up to the main campaign yet, but I just don't get it. I can see the point of trying to hold Burma to push supply to China, but I can't see how you could do it without Chinese troops. Most of the AAR's I've been ...

RE: Circle Four Building Program

<t> For what it's worth, the second Ibuki (Job No. 301) was laid down on 1 June 1942 with the work suspended in July 1942. It looks like it would have had ten 8" guns.<br/>

RE: COMMENSE Operation Nakri!

I just want to say good luck also. I've been sitting back lately trying to understand all the economic lessons, but the upcoming battle is intense. I find myself checking back a couple times a day to see if there are any reports from the front yet.

RE: A Month of Blahs

<t> If you raid into the Indian Ocean, do you think you could catch the British fleet? If you could cripple the RN, it could limit Allied options later, and maybe prevent Allied attacks into Sumatra or Java. Also, I think you would be a lot more successful against a couple of British CV's than a ...

RE: China Summary

Are you sure that those new divisions you'll get in China will come in at full strength? I seem to remember something about troops coming in at 25% strength if there aren't enough armament points in the pool, and I would think 7 divisions would use up a lot of points.

RE: Urban Hex Question--Canoerebel Stay Out

<t> To be honest John, it was your AAR and the fight over central Burma that made me ask the question. Both of you seem to have had a large number of troops made up of several units, but just by looking at the map, it seemed like you should have had an easier time with supply than the Allies trying ...

RE: Urban Hex Question--Canoerebel Stay Out

<t> If you don't mind a new player asking, can this "rolling attack" also be used by the defender? I see in several AAR's where the attacker comes in with a large force, and then waits several days for his disruption to come down before he starts his attack. Could the defender use one unit at a time ...

RE: OT: WWII Operation Games?

Has any one played "Victoria an empire under the Sun"?

If so what do they think?

I have. I enjoy it some times, but it's not really a war game. It's more of a game of politics and economics with some warfare added in.

RE: Just spent 25 dollars printing out manual. Dumb Move?

If it's a dumb move, it's one I've done as well. I just find it easier to flip through a manual, rather than trying to scroll around looking for something.

<t> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Hi, if you don't mind advice from someone who's been reading AAR's for a couple of years, but have never posted before, I think you should take a step back and not feel like you need to do something right now to turn things around.&nbsp; You remind me of the Allied player in ...
