RE: Coming back to the game...maybe? Some question on AI diff.

Thanks, shame about AI, but it is what it is. Sadly, I can't reliablly set aside time for PBEMs these days. I was fairly active in AT:G PBEM many years ago, but times change. CK3 time then!

Coming back to the game...maybe? Some question on AI diff.

<t> Greetings fellow wargamers. I got SC:Europe on release, and played it a bit then, but eventually felt disappointed with the challenge from AI. I see there has been a fair amount of updates since I moved on, and I wonder if other gamers can share their thoughts on the current state of the game ...

RE: Generating Revenue

Are you sure you didnt let them become friends AFTER they took hexes? Maybe via an event?

RE: Generating Revenue

You should only need to declare war if there is a unit in the hex, otherwise not. Use this to march troops up to the capital of the minor (or as close as you can) before declaring war, often one-turn killing them, while ignoring the rest of their forces.

Rare minerals for me as well. Keep an eye on how prices fluctuate, and sell when high.

RE: Questions regarding unit composition.

<t> Your formations have room for two independent units to join them. You can add any non-militia to an HQ (afaik). GR units can join.<br/>
<br/>
Use your "Unit admin" menu to select an HQ.<br/>

If you want to make your own formation, the easiest is to raise, say, an infantry corps, and ...

RE: New Cities

People WILL migrate to new cities, but it is a good idea to have some colonists available to "kick start" the new city, as the low amount of workers will limit your construction of needed amenities in the city

RE: New Cities

Click "New zone" on the right hand menu (right under construct button). There has to be some "asset" in that hex, if you want the city in an open hex, build a truck station first (or select the "create new zone 5pp" in top right corner of construct menu when you build it.

RE: Think I will pause playing this fine game

<t> Pausing the game waiting for updates is fine, I've done it in many games (especially Paradox Interactive strategy games), but at least here I dont really feel "forced" to play the betas. I think I tried 2 of the latest ones, and dont really see any point in abandoning a game just to update (at ...

RE: Russian disaster

<r> They will face troubles in Norway between Oslo and Bergen only if you have problems with the navy, I put all my ships (plus one newly built escort carrier, think thats the cheapest one) in the North Sea, and only occasionally did they have supply issues. I agree that Russia is a far bigger ...

RE: Russian disaster

<t> I did write about it in that other post, but here is what I did: I bought 3 amph points, and in february or march 40 I placed my best infantry army (with commander) on the amph ship, moved it to north sea next turn. When invading Denmark, I sent one of my armored corps north to capture as much ...

RE: Russian disaster

You'll need more air force, I'd say. Spend less on amph points and navy, and you should have 2 or even 3 tac bombers before the end of 41, together with even more armored units.

RE: Russian strength

<t> You can invade Norway with just 3 amph points, take Oslo with the support of two bombers (delay the landing by one turn, so that bombers will be on ground in northern Denmark, ready to hit Oslo), and a naval bombardment, while landing your best infantry army, after that just land more infantry ...

RE: Russian strength

<t> The AI cheat a lot compared to you, when played on normal. Still, it should be very doable to conquer Russia. You need some panzer corps, and should also be able to have at least one panzer army by the start of Barbarossa. Two or three tactical bomber units attack the more powerful Russian ...

RE: Russian disaster

<t> The Russians are easy enough to beat, assuming you know how to use concentric attacks, and have a few panzers available. Your tactical bombers pounce on Russian tank formations, and then the panzers mop them up. <br/>
<br/>
Playing Russia on the other hand, is just completely hopeless, even on ...

RE: To Buy or not To Buy

<t> I bought it, and I do not regret it. This is partially because the price was low, I don't think I'd accept the AI flaws and imbalances in a full price game(the latter I am sure will be worked on in patches, the AI I'm afraid will be worse). Just buy it, and if you find out you don't enjoy it ...

RE: Terrible AI for Allies.

The AI is terrible for all nations, not just the allies. I tried to play a game as UK, and ragequit when the German AI lost two of their Luftwaffe units by basing them directly on the front line in France.

I would certainly prefer great pictures over the cartoons, I can live with losing the weather/terrain info. I can understand why the developer chose to go with cartoons due to copyright etc etc on pictures, but that wont stop the modders! :-)

RE: High Command Cards

The REPLACEMENTS are not new units, merely replacements to cover losses, that is correct. You occasionally get a new unit card to play (or if the option is on, you can buy a very expensive para unit as Germans, not sure if Soviets also can buy some units)
