RE: Now what???

I'd say: get the RR lines repaired and build a couple of depots. Shorten the line. But well done!

RE: Graphical means of finding fighters ?

Aren't the types of each air squadron revealed when you hover the mouse over the air bases? I do that when I need to transfer squadrons.

RE: Bomber Command Recon

"Spitfire 944" is a great, short film about an American pilot who flew a Spit over Berlin for photo recon missions. The film maker found a reel of film showing the pilot making a wheels-up landing, then tracked down the pilot and interviewed him recently.

RE: Question about construction units

Since the last patch, I've found the automatic airfield building/upgrading (as the Allied commander) to be pretty rapid. Just keep supplies coming to the area in sufficient numbers.

RE: Question about construction units

<t> I've attached them to Army HQs and have had a lot of success with that. They seem to go to work right away in the HQ's sector. Sicily, for example, when they are attached to 7th Army. Many of them went to work right away. Palermo, Siracusa and Messina were fully functional in a short time.<br ...

RE: Comical and disturbing german beach defense

True, but Monty took a flawed plan, turned it into a good one, and saw it through to completion. I can't blame him for occasional over confidence. The American commanders were just as bad about that.

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>It is a weekly turn for this game. With one day turns you could be a lot more precise on what the allies could land and with what the germans could respond with. Sure there were just 6 on June 6th, but that is just 1/7th of the time involved.<e>
</e></QUOTE>

RE: Give it 6 months

Matrix has always been outstanding about patching their games after receiving feedback from its customers. It's no wonder they continue to be successful.

I had AH's "Fortress Europa" in the 80s, and then Grigsby's "Western Front" in '91. WITW is a worthy successor.

Do you assign rangers/specdial forces units to the amphibious HQ's? I forgot to do it a time or two, and it made a difference (negatively), I think.

RE: Semi OT: "Fury" (2014) movie...

<t> I haven't seen "Fury," but I do have a serious problem with most Hollywood war productions, in that they use actors who are far too old for their parts. Would a fifty year-old (Pitt) command a tank? It's possible, I know, but unlikely. "Private Ryan" had the same flaw -- pudgy, 40-something ...

RE: Moving SHAEF by sea

I had that problem with AFHQ in Africa. You might empty a corps HQ in France, send it back to England, load it with SHAEF's SU's. That worked for me. It might take a trip or two.

Air base HQ changes

<t> The manual states that air bases will not automatically change HQs unless the AI control option is selected. I'm finding that some of the Allied bases under my manual control are changing HQs from turn to turn. For example, two bases in SE England switched from RAF Fighter Command to 2nd RAF ...

RE: Achieving a Breakthrough

<t> Look back to "Cobra." Air strikes, infantry assaults and armored assaults. Pound him with a stack of infantry (or 3), then rotate the divisions back and send in the armor. Get in as many attacks as possible. I've been able to punch a hole in a pretty well-defended line that way. Also, it may ...

RE: a few questions

<t> As for the air game: you'll be able to do everything you've described. Between the air doctrines and the air directives, your squadrons can perform multiple missions against multiple targets each week. For example, you can set X number of B-17 squadrons of 8th AF to attack Kiel's U-boat ...
