Unless I am missing something, I have not found a good use for the security division HQ units, so I disband them and let the divisions themselves be directly attached to OKH.

They are not necessarily "isolated" but are out of command range. Keep in mind that the mud increases the movement costs and thus affects the distance a unit can be from its higher command and still be in range.

I would be up for a PBEM game as the Soviets. The settings you requested are ok with me.

Disclaimer: I've primarily played the Axis and this would be my first GC as the Soviets. If you are looking for an experienced Soviet player I may not be a good fit.

No, you do not need to complete your entire turn. You can save it and come back to it later. When you are ready to come back in just go back into Multiplayer and it will pick up where you left off since all saves are stored on the server. (in server based PBEM games that is)
