Re: 30% no wait 15% off

I saw that too. Checked multiple times, the large graphic definitely said 30% off, but the actual game page only gave 15%. I just shrugged and bought RTW3 at 15% off.

RE: Thanks

Ditto. My only issue is, like so many of us, my eyes can't read tiny writing any more. I know there are ways to improve the UI (zoom, font re-sizing) but I've yet to get it "just right".
Great game though.

A thoughtful and very helpful post, Nikolai. Thanks for taking the time to write it.

And thanks to all the other long term forum members for the long history of help with the game.

RE: Permeable Walls

<t> My understanding is that troops entering and defending buildings are abstracted: rather than spend a lot of time developing animations of sprites passing through doorways/entrances, we get 'permeable walls'. They do indeed fight back when inside - once again this is abstracted to some degree ...

Wouldn't you just want to organize a grand army and wipe out the enemy in one big battle?

There is a specific "crush the enemy" kind of campaign that can be chosen if you want to do that.

It seems that way to me too. Which means if one owns enough locations you're open to being defeated in detail.

So what do the Scottish wear under their kilt in SOW?

Thankfully the game has no camera angle that provides an answer to this question.

<t> Not to discourage you from pursuing the emulation/Wine method, but if you are going to run various PC wargames I've found it's best to just run windows. Bootcamp works really well. Of course you have to actually partition your disk, and boot into windows and all that entails - but you will find ...

RE: Stand alone or expansion?

Sometimes I feel sorry for all the Pacific theatre guys, it does seem to be a fairly neglected wargame topic. So why not.
After that, Vietnam would be good - looking through the board games (which I'm not familiar with) on the LnL site, "forgotten heroes"?

Thanks for the new beta guys. I hadn't played any maps with LoS issues, so I can't confirm that side of it being fixed. I did notice the 'drawn initiative roll' fix works correctly. cheers
