RE: Aircraft won't launch AGM-45B shrike

Per Raptorx7_slith's comment, I replayed the mission and the Shrikes were correctly launched when the SAMs started emitting.

Looks like this is working correctly.

Thanks,

Charles

RE: Steam version won't launch

<t> It turns out that an older version of the 2015 Visual C++ runtime was installed on my system, but I (and the new Visual C++ installer) could not uninstall the older version (Visual C++ 14.0.24210). I found that Microsoft has a special downloadable uninstall tool which I ran against the older ...

RE: Steam version won't launch

I completely uninstalled it, rebooted, and then re-installed. I'm getting the same error about the VC++ redist as when I first tried to launch.

Alright. I officially give up.

<t> Hi Zakblood,<br/>

The program is looking for "vc_runtimeMinimum_x86.msi", but that file does not seem to be present in the steam folder for CMANO. I've run searches on F:\Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ SteamApps \ common \ Command Modern Air Naval Operations \<br/>

Steam version won't launch

<t> I know my Steam version was updated recently. When I click to launch, it says "performing first time setup...Installing: Microsoft VC Redist Package". It then pops up a dialog box that says that it can't find the Visual C++ runtime package and asks the user to point to it.<br/>

RE: On the Fence Question

Yes - although I don't have a lot of experience with that in the game as I mainly focus on ships and aircraft, just a quick instance where I was playing with spec ops in the mountains of Venezuela I believe. I'll leave it to others to specifically comment.

RE: On the Fence Question

<t> There is an incredible amount of value in this game/simulation as it stands. As just one example, I've spent the last three nights fighting a huge air/naval battle against Libya (Operation Folgore) and it's going to be one of those gaming experiences that just sticks with you. Subs, ships ...

In the Beta 1.01 patch, your airbase is placed further away giving you time to get planes airborne before you are attacked.

RE: Issues with loading troops

<t> Ok - I switched the command to South Pacific and I was able to load the troops, so this is making more sense to me. I went by what command the units at Lunga were reporting to. However, more generally, how do I know which HQ to attach units to put them into play? Also for the Guad. scenario ...

RE: Issues with loading troops

All the units at Noumea and Luganville say attached to SoPac Rear Area (R). If I want to use the units, which command do I switch them to?

Issues with loading troops

<t> I'm new to WITP (thanks for the sale by the way). I'm starting to make sense of most things, but troop loading is driving me nuts.<br/>

In the Guad. scenario, I see that I need normal and aviation support at Lunga. I have multiple engineering units at both Noumea and Luganville that I ...

With two engineering degrees and an MBA plus a life-long interest in WW2, I've got my fingers crossed that I will be able to hopefully, maybe, with a lot of manual reading, muddle through a turn or two [:)]

<t> Potential newbie here as well. I bought UV last summer, but just could not get into it. "Gold" Edition?

I'm thinking of purchasing this game, but I see at the Slitherine website that a new "gold" edition is coming out on March 20th in the UK.

I think I should hold off for now and purchase the new edition when it is released in the US? Any info on this?

Thanks
