Anonymous Heroics

This is the "intro" scenario for TOAW, right?

I was dismayed that there was no option to play with the AI! Therefore, I was curious if anyone was interested in playing this one.

RE: How do you attack successfully?

<t> I have a problem with the strategy, too. A lot of times I can win, but with an almost 90% loss of my forces.<br/>
<br/>
In Wacht am Rhein, however, I had a sweeping victory on one map with very limited losses. I think the same type of strategy might apply for TLD on some maps:<br/>

RE: Battle Time Limits?

<t> 30 minutes seems like it would give me a little more time to get the Victory Locations.<br/>
<br/>
Do you know, that if after the time limit expires and you capture the Victory Locations, if you need to play the map again the next turn you still keep those same Victory Locations? Not sure what ...

RE: Multiplayer Question

<r> I love both of the games.&nbsp; I found that in the first few battles at least in The Longest Day, the battlegroups seem better balanced with the initial set up.&nbsp; Nice mix of rifles and support weapons, which has translated to more progress made for me on the map.<br/>

Battle Time Limits?

<t> Do you all like to use them? I never was too fond of time limits in any computer game, and in the Close Combat games I like to use the option to end the battle when force morale goes too low. There's something about time limits that I like, though, and I think maybe 30 minutes might be a bit ...

<r> My search a couple days ago did reveal a useful site about typical insurgent weapons (rifles, mg, mostly): <URL url="http://www.military.com/NewContent/0,13190,Defensewatch_062405_Quigley,00.html"><LINK_TEXT text="http://www.military.com/NewContent/0,13 ... ey,00.html">http://www.military.com ...

RE: Campaign Map Help

<t> Thank you very much for the answer. This helps. <br/>
<br/>
I've found that one can in fact have a battle anywhere, though, at least as of Wacht am Rhein whether there's a battlegroup in there or not. In the Longest Day, I did move a battlegroup to a territory unoccupied by the Germans. The ...

Forces Assistance

<t> Even though there doesn't appear to be an easy way to make maps from scratch, I do like the flexibility provided by the scenario editor in assigning victory locations and deployments to an existing map.<br/>

Something I'm confused about, though. The equipment! There's a number of ...

Campaign Map Help

<t> Hi all,<br/>
<br/>
The manual didn't seem to specify on this particularly. I noticed that one can pretty much click on any part of the campaign map and execute a battle. However, if there are no battlegroups in the particular area, then no game effect right? What if you move a battlegroup into ...

RE: sprites

<t> I noticed that in Close Combat: Modern Tactics this is the case. You see the NATO symbols when you zoom out. With Wacht am Rhein and The Longest Day, though, when you zoom out you see counters. It's very useful during gameplay, I think, as it provides a clear and concise view of things and there ...

RE: Looking for Any Game

Excellent! I've got a number of fun games going.

Would anyone be interested in playing the scenario Kashmir 99 with me as the Indians? Maybe Afghanistan, or another modern era scenario that you find really good?

Looking for Any Game

<t> Hello,<br/>
<br/>
I've been playing the game for awhile, even back during A Century of Warfare, and I'm not very good at it. I'm up for any scenario, but I particularly like the World War I, hypothetical, and Modern scenarios. Please let me know what you might be interested in via PM, and I ...

Wanting to try Multiplayer

<t> Hello,<br/>
<br/>
I recently purchased this game and I like it a lot. I feel I need much more practice, though, because virtually every battle I've played MAY involve a victory, but the wiping out of 90% of my forces! I've had some good experiences, though--as the Americans, my gun crew from a ...

Scenario Planning: Invasion of Alaska

<t> I love hypotheticals, regardless of how likely they are or even if they are realistic or not. I was hoping for assistance with planning a simple scenario involving the east side of the Alaskan border, using the towns of Fairbanks and Anchorage. I'm completely new at this, but I think I might ...
