RE: Tips for offensives

<t> 1. Sneak in decent cover when the enemy is 150+ m. away orin bldgd at close range. Move fast when youre fairly certain youre team isnt in enemy LOS or is but at long distance.<br/>

2. As often as necessary. Enemy fire thru smoke is treated as area fire rather than targeted fire.<br ...

<r> Finding, fixing, bombarding is manuever and fire. You say potato, I say... An armored infantry btn CO recalled his unit's primary task as being the security escort for FOs. "Too Mny Men" and other sources peg casualties from indirect fire at 60-75%. CC wouldnt be much of a game if either side ...

RE: First impressions

IMO a "fair fight" vs the AI involves never re-deploying your troops since the AI always uses the tactically deficient default deployment.

RE: Mortar fire: How to avoid?

<t> Often the first spotting round indicates where the target is. That gives your teams(s) ~10 seconds to vamoose or hunker down. The AI will use mortars against tanks in an effort to immobilize them but a moving tank is hard to hit. Deploy your infantry in good cover, expose a moving tank (or fire ...

RE: Large maps small amount of infantry

<r> Unit frontage did take terrain density into account as well as other factors such as the US propensity for cautiousness in the attack, with a preference to rely on supporting arms. Defense in depth is abstracted into a BGs forcepool. Lose badly (FM breaks), give some gound (minus 1-3 VLs) and ...

RE: Should I buy?

Youll like that the forcepools include every sub-unit specified by the contemporary TO&Es, right down to the number of snipers, in the PITF battalion and regimental battlegroups. In essence PITF is a "one to one" Mortain mod.

<r> CC battles are small micro-tactical slices of life (and death) but to "reflect concentrations of force" suggests a a turn-based game scale where youre pushing unit icons around the map. RE: First impressions

Unit movement has changed with the ability to mount/dismount vehicles. The chief advantage to this is delivering non-fatigued units to jump-off positions.

The option to remove the game clock and Force Morale displays (F8) increases FOW considerably.
