RE: Too difficult--by far

<t> One additional bit of information that I found very useful in the beginning : the garrison of a city cannot storm out if no general is present. That means you can besiege a city with just one unit (plus a general, of course) and wait it out ; and consequently leaving more units with Hannibal (or ...

RE: Siege question

<r> It can be frustrating to see the romans slip out so easily, but yes, that is how it's supposed to work with coastal cities. The romans are not leaving the city, <I><s></s>then <e></e></I>embarking ; they are leaving the city directly by sea transport. The sieging army is outside of the ...

I have played around 60+ games easily. I do start seeing the trends, so I can't really agree about never reaching a point where you can't guess AI. In fact, while I agree about each game requiring diligence (I still lose armies to Romans ...

RE: Replay question.

<t> I concur ; and in addition to the option cards, I would also mention the AI as a factor in replay value. It's not just a passive obstacle, it plays to win ; so, not only the AI reacts to our moves, but we have to react to its moves as well. This creates a back-and-forth that adds a lot of ...

RE: New Beta available for Hannibal v1.03

<r> Like I said, it shouldn't distract you from anything more important, so there's certainly no rush ; and the game is already very well balanced. I'm nitpicking at this point. [;)]<br/>

RE: New Beta available for Hannibal v1.03

<t> I did actually manage to win the first time that happened (though barely). <br/>
<br/>
But you do have a point : I tried to reproduce it, as I still have the savegame, and most of the time it doesn't go so well. So it requires quite a bit of luck to pull it off. Although I would add two things ...

RE: New Beta available for Hannibal v1.03

<r> I hadn't played the game in a little while so I think I was a bit rusty. The first two games didn't go so well, but I was able to win after that (on hard difficulty). So the game is still winnable, no worries on that front.<br/>

I think he hard level is very well balanced right now, but ...

RE: Immortal Africanus and other bugs. Version 1.02

<t> I'm running the game on Windows 7 64-bits, and it's a computer I built myself (the CPU is an Intel Core i5 750, the GPU is a Radeon HD 4890, and I have 4Go of RAM).<br/>

Also in my case, this happened with verbose AI turned off, and quick battle removals on, to answer your earlier ...

RE: Immortal Africanus and other bugs. Version 1.02

<t> You know, I think I've experienced the same very strange bug, once. I saved the game, and then pressed next turn to see if it wasn't just a graphic glitch (because, if I remember correctly, I was able to move the roman force away from the siege and back to the field !). It was still there the ...

No confirmation screen after a purchase ?

<t> Hello everyone.<br/>
<br/>
I just purchased several games at once on the site, this is the first purchase I made since the new store. As stated in the title after I sent my order through, the page loaded for a while, and then just blank space (in the part of the page where the order took place ...

RE: A question about interception : is this working as intended ?

You only get to intercept armies who come in the province (or storm one of your cities), not the ones who leave. NefariousKoel was referring to an army who leaves a city but stays in the same province ; an army that goes in the field.

RE: Strategy advice please

<t> You won't have an exact number, but there are 2 ways : <br/>
<br/>
In the recruitment window that comes up every turn, you can click on every province and you'll see how "rich" the province is. Or at any point during the game by right-clicking on a province, and then clicking on "Advanced ...

RE: Strategy advice please

<t> Rushing the game isn't a necessity, but your "turtle" temperament might be a problem. <br/>
<br/>
I think the way to win in this game isn't to advance along a frontline and slowly grind your ennemy to defeat ; as you've pointed out, the recruitement capacity of the romans is too important for ...

RE: A question about interception : is this working as intended ?

<t> Alright then, thank you for the clarification. I was a bit surprised, but what you are saying makes sense, especially about not being able to protect 2 sieges at the same time, I didn't think of that.<br/>

As for the reason I didn't storm the city, I actually only thought of that when I ...

RE: A question about interception : is this working as intended ?

<t> From the manual : "When a hostile force is trying to storm a city and can be intercepted, it will be placed with a siege tower against the city and given a similar kind of highlighting" (followed by a picture with a red siege tower).<br/>
<br/>
So when two armies start the turn in the same ...

A question about interception : is this working as intended ?

<r> Hello everyone.<br/>
<br/>
In my lastest game (playing with the 1.02 beta patch on hard), I encountered a situation I haven't seen before : <br/>
<br/>
Here's what happened : I seiged Rome with one army, and left the other in the field to protect it. The romans then moved a force in this ...

RE: Public Beta for Hannibal v1.02 (Updated)

<t> Just to clarify my thought about the Senate : the issue I have with certain decisions it makes, is more about immersion than gameplay. The way I understand the feature, it is supposed to recreate the situation of a political body disagreeing or interfering with military leaders. But when it ...

RE: Public Beta for Hannibal v1.02 (Updated)

<r> I have now played a few games with the lastest beta patch and I thought I would give some feedback. First off I want to say again how much I'm enjoying this game, and how impressed I am with the work you've done on it, before and after release. Truly an excellent job.<br/>
<br/>
The game is a ...
