Well, one positive note: You don't seem to have lost TO many ships, i've seen much worse than that in other AAR's as well as my own games

Usually the Jap player has a whole lot of nothing stationed in that region, nothing to significant, and aztez can concentrate a ton of shit. It can be done, worth it if he can gain that region without any naval risk due to the weather
