RE: Basic info on War in the West 43-45

<t> Colonel Glantz gives the losses to Army Group Center as 450,000, with another 100,000 lost, primarily as a result of Konev's operation south of the Pripyet marshes, a total of 550,000 men. Soviet losses were 243,500 kia and missing and 811,000 wounded. I submit this is approximately equal to all ...

RE: Basic info on War in the West 43-45

<t> Deception was also very important on the East Front. The Red Army referred to it as "Maskirovka." For Operation Bagration (the destruction of Army Group Center), they utilized numerous maskirovka techniques to convince the Germans that the offensive was going to be in the Ukraine, with the ...

That is how I thought it should work.&nbsp; But there are all kinds of SU's in the corps to which the division is attached and I see none of them when I try to attach.&nbsp; What am I missing

transfer of specific SU to division (German)

<t> I have had this game from the very beginning and have never figured this out. Now, the 502nd Heavy Panzer Batallion has arrived. It was sent immediately to II Korps (dumb, but I think, historical, which was equally dumb). I tracked it down and transferred it to AGC and to 2nd Panzer Army and ...

RE: Game Suggestions:

<t> Heliodorus04 mentions the term 'historically plausible' in his closer. I like it! The changes implemented so far seem to get the Axis to a point where they are no worse off than they were historically, but historically they were terrible over extended. It is historically plausible that this did ...

RE: Soviet Rail Repair?

<t> The SU rail repair units work great. Put a slew of them in STAVKA, which can and will operate almost anywhere and a handful in each Front HQ. Later, when Red Army deep penetration tactics become practical, I put four in each Tank Army, which seemed to work. Use the larger units, which come in as ...

Initial Game - Some Thoughts

<t> I have completed my first attempt at WitE, Soviet vs. Axis A/I. In this game, I was able to hold the Dnepr line from just south of Mogelev to just north of Dnepropetrovsk, which was briefly captured by the Axis. A fortified line was formed running from the last major river hex of the Dnepr to ...

RE: Siberians

I just reread Glantz's section on the Moscow counter-offensive from "When Titans Clashed." The Siberians are never even mentioned. The primary Armies involved are the four shock armies, 1-4.

Perhaps the problem lies in the fact that the role of "siberian" divisions in the defence of Moscow got too much hype in the past... so our expectation are too high! <E>;)</E><br/>

RE: Siberians

<t> They do not come in 'en mass' as I would have expected. They come in all over the place as reinforcements and are not particularly powerful. In retrospect, I should have gone to a reference and found out what armies were represented, then grouped them together. In my opinion, they should arrive ...

RE: Tank Armies

I just updated from the Beta to V 1.02. There is no headquarters in the build list, no Tank Army HQ reinforcement, no Tank Army HQ on the board. No Tank Army HQ period. Are we saying my game is different from all the others? Any ideas?

RE: Finns can attack across the line

<t> In my SU vs German A/I, the Finns moved south of the line, with Leningrad securely in SU possession. I was surprized to see them half-way to the vital rail link running north-south. Some units, although only opposed by a couple of NKVD units, did not move. I'm guessing there may be some kind of ...

Soviet Recon and/or mech inf squads

These squads do not appear to be on the production schedule, which means that motorized brigades and, I assume, mechanized brigades cannot be filled out to TOE. Should these be added or am I missing something? If they need to be added, how about a quicky patch.

RE: Soviet Tank & Mechanized Corps

<t> Thanks, guys. As soon as I made the post, I checked the build and found the motorized brigades, along with some other recent adds. I assume mech brigades will be added later. In the process of checking this stuff out, I didn't see the SU-76, which was built in large quantities. Did I miss it?</t>

Soviet Tank & Mechanized Corps

<t> First of all, this game leaves awesome in the dust. Great work! Now I have a few questions regarding later war periods.<br/>
<br/>
1. The Red Army fielded 5 and ultimately 6 Tank Armies. I don't see any Tank Army HQ's on the reinforcement schedule. How are these created?<br/>

2. I am ...

Automatic Rail Repair

I don't know what others are experiencing, but it seems to me that the construction batallions dumped out by various HQ are looking for the most useless conceivable location. It would be helpful if we could get control of where these units are being placed.
