RE: Defense against fighter sweeps

My Mosquito fighter bomber unit in the med loose slightly less than 1 aircraft every 25 missions. I have several mustang squadrons with a loss rate of less than 1 aircraft every 5 missions.

How do you get your Mosquitoes to "patrol" at max altitude? When set planes to sweep over a field they invariably go down to the deck and get shot up by flak.

RE: Defense against fighter sweeps

<t> I like to plot my outbound waypoints over known fighter bases. e.g. A unit of FW190F returns to it base with escorts hot on their tail. Unfortunatly a Mosquito squadron is patroling at max altitude over their home base. Result 35 out of 36 FW190F killed. The Mosquitos alone got more than 50 ...

RE: Mission Limit

<t> Night Intruders are pretty effective in the game. 20-80 kills is not an uncommon result when I plot many intruder missions. A more effective mission planer for intruders would be nice. I use 6-12 fighters per base and I target many air bases when I do a lot of night bombing. More than 100 ...

RE: Defense against fighter sweeps

But sweeps even work at max altitude. I managed to kill more than 100 fighters over just three bases. This happens pretty ofter near Sofia when I am after the romanian oil fields.

RE: Acceptable Daily Casulties?

Allied losses < Axis losses on an average day preferable with a 3:1 kill/death ratio or better. On a big raid day(good weather and many rested units) higher losses are acceptable unless to many units get crippeled with bad morale.

RE: Ground Combat

OK I was a bit unclear. You can attack non avalance targets when you retarget a 12th airforce flight. There are several nice targets close to 12th airforce bases.
e.g. the ball bearing plants near torino.

RE: Questions from "green" players

<t> The weather is bad at the end of 1943 most of the time - but it should be much better at the start of 1944. You still should be able to get some raids out even if the weather is bad at 4:30. Just launch them at 13:00 and cross your fingers. My score at the end of january 1944 was 2 AS, 17 IND ...

<r> <B><s>[b]</s><br/>
I have a game called Defending the Reich, and from the reviews of this game it sounds like the gameplay is similar. In Defending the Reich, if you are playing as the British you plan raids, decide which squadrons will participate, and then launch the raid and watch it unfold ...

RE: Dismal December 1943

<t> Mosquito fighter bombers are great against high value targets inside germany. Add a few P-51B/Mustang III as escorts and the target can be destroyed with minimal losses. There are also several target within heavy escort range e.g. that 40 capacity rubber plant north of the ruhr. You should be ...

RE: Dismal December 1943

The weather will be bad quite often at the end of 1943. But I still launch my raids. The weather gets
better sometimes and some raids will be a success. But -2 is a pretty bad score- it should be
much higher.

I Bomb at maximum altitude with B-17 , B-24 , Mosquitos at night. Lancasters go in at 16k-max altitude depending on the target. Daylight
raids close to the coast fly at 20k. Deep raids fly at 32k altitude.
