Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods

The KNIL had also ordered 400 M3 Scout Cars from the US, but America only delivered 40 before the Japanese conquest.

I'm also more generous with Overvalwagens. I attach a half-dozen or so to KNIL infantry regiments and Landstorm battalions, and boost local production.

This page has great info ...

Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods

In my sandbox, I gave the Dutch a wider variety of airframes to start.

In this alternate history, the KNIL and MLD get their act together and acquire several Fokker designs and a few foreign models before the war. Most are obsolete, but boost the number of airframes available until lend-lease kicks ...

RE: Surface Combat Results

<t> The difference in crew skill levels is critical. The Japanese start out with much better night fighting experience. I avoid surface encounters with Japanese warships until my crews have gained experience through commerce raiding. Early in the game as the allies, your surface ships are your best ...

Ship launched rockets

I'm looking at simulating Soviet G-5 torpedo boats, some of which were converted to fire 82mm or 132mm rockets.

Does the game have a mechanism for handling naval rocket fire? If so, does it work for surface combat, bombardment, or both?

Assigning float planes to BB, CA, CL

I have some new battleships and cruisers available that have the capacity to carry float planes, but have none assigned to them. How do I create float plane air groups to assign to them?

RE: Ideas for modifying strafing

Thanks for the replies. It's straying a bit off-topic, as I'm fishing for methods to modify the effectiveness of strafing. Any suggestions? Is there a way to improve the firepower of strafing without queering the air-to-air performance of aircraft guns?

Ideas for modifying strafing

<t> I confess I'm a strafing fanboy, and the effectiveness of strafing in AE leaves something to be desired. I've never looked under the hood, but it seems like strafing follows the same air to ground logic as bombs and suffers as a result since the effect numbers of machine guns are considerably ...

<r> The Japanese Navy can be bested in night surface battles, but you need to gain experience first. I used my surface ships extensively in the early days of the Japanese offensive in nighttime commerce raids and shore bombardments. Sometimes, however, it's better to be lucky than good.<br/>

<t> I've never had any luck with level bombers hitting naval targets unless I send them in at 100 ft. I set my Dutch bombers to train for low naval attack. You take a bit more flak, but for me it was worth the ships sunk and damaged. The 300kg bombs of the Dutch B-10s can do a real number on ships ...
