Re: How old are the average Wargamers here?

I like the idea of using stock prices for dice rolls - can you explain a bit more?

It was in the 1960s that I first started using 20 sided dice - made out of 20 equilateral triangles. This gave you 20 5% increments for tank hit chances etc. It was well before I ever heard of dungeons and dragons ...

Started in the 1960s in Richmond, London:

We used a logarithmic scale for movement - seemed like rocket science before computers.

It meant you could have close combat (10 cm = 100 metres) and long distance ...

Re: Napoleons campain

Hi Nikel,

I got it working !!! NCP AACW WIA - and now World War One Gold

The WW1 tip came from an old thread - just copy the entire directory from the old pc where it was working.

http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=237&t=54333

I'm too exhausted to play.

Re: Napoleons campain

Hi Nikel,
I think I will settle for having NCP working on one of the PCs. I can't get it to work on the others despite trying to do exactly the same file choices and sequence.
WW1 and WW1G I can't get working on any of them. It may be something to do with trying to install DivX/DirectX.
I'm too ...

I've pushed my luck too far and tried to install World War One Gold from the same strategy pack.

Failed.

Re: Napoleons campain

Update an hour or so later !

I got NCP to work on one PC - Windows 11 pro.

I installed to C:\NapoleonsCampaigns

Used Notepad to enter the serial number - and it saved !

The version was 1.06 from a Ageod Strategy Pack 2

I updated to 1.10b with a download from Patches scrolls as linked from the ...

Re: Napoleons campain

I'm having aggro with this too - trying to install on Windows 11 PCs.

I tried adding the serial number but it wouldn't let me save the file - even though I am the administrator.

On another PC I keep getting access violation errors.

Thank goodness I still have some older PCs that games work on ...

Re: 1/144th Scale Miniatures

I was introduced to wargaming almost 60 years ago playing with "Bish" Iwaszko who had a business making dioramas for defence companies - here's an old article on his WW2 stuff.

We had a logarithmic scale so that you had about 10cm ...

Re: Really good game - looks a lot better in game than in the screenshots

Thanks for the reminder of this.

I fired mine up and noticed it was a late version 1.10e QF2 = quick fix.

I don't remember what this quick fix was for (and it will not affect gameplay for most people most of the time) but you may want or need to search the web as the Ageod forum with updates and ...

Re: More Scenarios or Campaigns

I'm with briklebritt - more small scenarios please.

Historical, fictional or semi fictional. Maybe even variants of the existing ones? I made some simple variants of Flashpoint Campaigns and Command Ops scenarios by altering the objectives which was easy because it didn't require any programming ...

Re: BAOR (British Army of the Rhine) DLC

If the Russians wanted to attack BAOR they would do it on a Wednesday or Saturday because they were sports days and you couldn't find anybody with authority to do anything - especially if there was more than half an inch of snow because the Brits can't cope with that.

Here's a few more pictures of the rail destroyer - including one of it being used in Italy:

A blunder?

Exceeded only by the declaration of war against the USA in 1942?

Re: Won't work on Windows 10

I was about to say it works fine for me - but now I find it doesn't - I get an access violation on start up. Maybe some recent windows update wrecked something.
NB I'm on a PC which was upgraded to windows 10 - I have found for instance there are some other games that won't work - e.g. Valor and ...

The game was originally a board game by Philippe Thibaut - one of the Ageod game designers.

Useful having to visit that marketing office in Italy, especially in ski season :)

Incidentally, isn't "Calvinus" of "World War One" game based near there?
