(re) buying on win11

This revised and updated turn-based grand strategy game from the team at AGEOD brings players back to World War I, including both the Eastern and Western fronts and over 4 campaigns and 10 scenarios. As either a member of the Central Powers, the Entente or a neutral nation, players will confront the epic gauntlet of military and political challenges that faced the likes of Kitchener, Joffre, Luddendorf, Clemenceau, Czar Nicholas II or Enver Pasha.

(re) buying on win11

So I want to scratch the hitch of getting back to this 15 years plus later.

I can't use the win10 trick as I have no older OS around.

Would the matrix shop version work?
So far my old full install from ageod does not.

Having spent many hours and using every possible permutation of compatibility and video settings I cannot get WW1G (or Centennial) to work in Win-11.

Opened a support ticket with Matrix and after some back and forth Tech Support advised that they can't get the game to run either. The problem with Centennial is that the user key is not accepted so I get an error message telling me that I cannot play the game. Few are the days where one cannot find new reasons to despise Windows-11.

Sadly, no joy here.

I tried my old full install copy (from Gamersgate? I honnestly doesn't remember). No joy, and I tried a lot of settings with the configurator or the .exe compatibility.

I found a very cheap key for the Steam centennial edition, basically the price of an expresso, so took it. It seems to work... for now. Haven't have the time to check it deeply yet.

I was quite cautious in paying 25€ for the full matrix game if win11 compatibility was not guaranteed. So far, Steam centennial may be my answer. We'll see.

It works on my Windows 11 home and pro Pcs. But only by copying a complete installation from another pc and putting that in a new folder on the Windows 11 pc.
I have no idea why that works but that hours spent trying to do a new install be it from disc or downloaded from Matrix wouldn't work. I got the solution from another thread here or on Ageod forum so try searching.

Glad that you got it to work but I did this with both WW1G and Centennial and both installations fail to run. Gold either crashes to desktop or never reaches the scenario selection screen regardless of what combo of compatibility and colour settings are used. Copying a legitimate copy of Centennial onto the Win-11 laptop also fails to run because the user key is not accepted by the computer.

Did the videos and music play before it crashed?

I think I had to install a thing called Div X on one PC to get it to run. Oh, and let the video thing run all the way.

I re ran WW1G just to see if it still works - every windows 11 update adds a chance of messing things up. On one of my pcs it stalled and stuttered during the videos but then continued and loaded.

My PC runs Intel graphics - no fancy card.

I've lost countless hours of life trying to get some games to run - sill can't get Ageod's Birth of America to run.
