RE: Production and Research

<t> 1) Production is handled automatically, for the most part, with your factories producing set amounts of goods and materiel every turn. You do not need to manage it, or research anything, if you do not want to. <br/>
<br/>
2) Only the Soviet player gets to build divisions and other formations ...

<t> Just jump straight into the Grand Campaign. The water is warm! And colored a deep, deep red...<br/>
<br/>
Actually, jokes aside, why the hell not? Give yourself a bonus or two in the set-up and have fun with it. Lots of people seem to want to get straight into 'challenging' their wargaming ...

RE: How much time to play each turn?

<t> As a Soviet player primarily concerned with responding to Axis attacks during the first months of the war, I spend about 30 minutes on the orders phase, each turn.<br/>
<br/>
Shuffling my forces around consumes the bulk of that time, as I am not really attacking, for the moment. I am also ...

<t> Dale,<br/>

Put it to you this way: I'm using the Soviets, who have to manage a lot more units than the Axis. And I'm not feeling overwhelmed. After not being able to wrap my head around WitP:AE, at all, WitE is a breath of fresh air. It's just so easy to use. Complex rail movement? Click ...

RE: Effect of Game Options?

Thanks, gents!

I'm feeling my way in the dark, here, but what a game. Still thinking about those new units reaching the line.

They really saved my ass, to put it blithely. There was nothing in front of the Axis between Pskov and Leningrad!

Effect of Game Options?

<r> Hi all!<br/>
<br/>
Bought the game last night; downloaded it; installed it; played it until the early hours of the morning.<br/>
<br/>
Currently, I'm up to Turn 10 with the Soviet Grand Campaign ('41-'45), having not tried the tutorial or read much of the manual (I know, I know...).<br ...

Hey Adam, I forgot to mention in the other thread that I, too, am a Melbournian.

Are you also whiling away the last few hours of your workday, waiting to get home and download the hell out of this beast?

RE: How much

<r> Allow me to just reiterate something:<br/>
<br/>
At ~$82AUD, this is about $10 cheaper than virtually any new game release in the Australian market. <br/>
<br/>
I'll let that sink in for a moment. I paid $109.95 for a basic release of Dragon Age, back in 2009. <br/>
<br/>

<t> Soviet*, of course. The desperation of shattering losses and wholesale retreats, followed by the tenuous balance of the mid-war and then, ever so slowly, a triumphant turn-around in one's battlefield fortunes. It's an underdog story; the best kind of story. There's no miracle in Germany's many ...

You know, I get the feeling that this sort of game isn't going to be a smash hit with the cyber buccaneers.

But, absolutely, I echo the sentiment.

RE: Tomorrow or Tuesday?

As an Australian, all I can say is this:

I truly look forward to this completely normally priced (in terms of the Australian market) game. The fact that it will be $10 cheaper than most new releases here makes it all the sweeter.

<t> From the sounds of it, Ascended, you're looking for CMBB/PzC:O type tactical combat in an operational level wargame. <br/>

Here are a few issues to consider, though I think Flaviusx has already surmised my stance adequately:<br/>

1) This sort of game would necessitate the ...

I continue to eagerly await the release of the most highly anticipated wargame of the last few years. At least, for me!<br/>

1) Firstly, I was interested&nbsp; in how the game engine handles 'booty ...
