RE: Simple feature wish list

Versions of that has been suggested several times, DeadlyShoe. Could you put what you wrote in the Wish List in the stickies?
I think that is a pretty important part of the game, and could really use some love.

RE: Racial woes...

Don't worry Retreat1970. They simply do not understand the power of joyous breeding.

Btw, is it really not possible to create more categories for the population policies? It sounds strange that it is impossible to have more options than we currently do.

<t> Completely agree on the DLC, Ceorl.<br/>
<br/>
Some form of that front idea would also be very welcome. I've seen, and suggested, being able to somehow tag systems to establish claims and the like.<br/>
<br/>
Example: Tagging a system as "shared" could directly offset the diplomatic penalty ...

Good to see that it is not just me. This seems like a fairly straight-forward thing to fix.

<r> Nothing kills a thread like a passionate rant <E>:D</E><br/>

There are a ton of stuff to add, tweak and work with in the current model. It seems people are split on whether the game as it is should be improved, or if a new version should be made to have a fresh start with more powerful ...

<r> I had no idea this was the case. I am frequently overwhelmed by the amount of stuff going on in DW <E>:P</E><br/>

I think you should report it as a possible issue. I'm not really a veteran, but I have played the game on and off since it came out and it would be very interesting and ...

AI ship designer not adding Damage Control component

<t> Upon finishing Damage Control the AI will not reliably add this component to its designs. This is true even after researching the next level of construction size.<br/>
<br/>
This has happened in many games with many different races, independent of economy and available resources.<br/>
There ...

I'll second everything that has been said here. It's massive and fascinating. There are a great many things I find very frustrating, but I'll take the bad to enjoy the good.
There is nothing quite like it.

As for how to limit bases, I think it would be best to put the limit at one extractor per location. Seems the least fiddly way to prevent this exploit.<br/>

I would also love to hear what is going on with Moo3 atm, and where to get the best mods. It's been absolute ages since I last played it.
If anyone knows what best mods are now, please tell :)

RE: Won't let me build Colony ships?

A colony ship does not need a hyperdrive for the first in-system colony (if you have it). You only need to research the first colonization tech. Having a cruise speed of about 12 is more than sufficient to get you to your target slowly, and comfortably :)

No chance to get their neighbours to attack them? It's usually fairly easy to get people to beat up on the bugs. As Securans you should have at least some friends.

RE: The future of Distant Worlds - Is DW2 necessary?

<t> GalCiv uses a simpler model, for sure, but I was more talking about emulating the flexibility of the GalCiv tech tree. It succeeds at creating very diverse races and playstyles, even with a limited model. <br/>

As for breaking the DW AI, it is as simple as taking direct control of your ...

RE: The future of Distant Worlds - Is DW2 necessary?

<t> The best example of very different tech trees in a single game is Gal Civ 2. It's not as shiny as other examples, but the way you played each race completely changed depending on the tech tree. <br/>
It was extremely flexible.<br/>

RE: Imbalanced AI?

<r> I've also noticed that the most dynamic games, read as fewest steamrollers empires, take place when not playing pre-warp. Pre-warp is a nice starting point for the player, but the AI seems to struggle with to get a steady stream of resources since it cannot properly account for scarcity and save ...

<t> That's strange. They usually get almost nothing from my newly started colonies, and I never noticed that.<br/>
You should check it over some time (check resource stocks and recheck after raids) and report it as a bug if that actually happens. Big problem is it actually does, and could explain ...
