Re: Font/DPI Appearance Changes in Programs after Exiting AB2

It's fairly likely that the graphics library used does something funny with HDR and/or SDR colours.

One possible hand-off workaround for this is to use this utility:
https://github.com/cocafe/HDRSwitch

You can make a small batch file to start AB2 and on exit toggle HDR off and back on.

Re: Font/DPI Appearance Changes in Programs after Exiting AB2

Me too.

Win-ALT-B is the HDR hotkey so at least it's easy to toggle it off and on that way.

Re: Please Release on Steam

Not interested in having this discussion with you. I gave 25 year old game developed by a single guy as an example and you drag out Warno. Nope.

Either the dev sees the point of having representative graphics farther zoomed out and e.g. bumping up max drawing distance of fences and such from what ...

Re: Please Release on Steam

Let's be honest here, guys. The graphics are significantly worse than CMBO was 25 years ago (it's got bushes! And grain fields!). With CMBB it's not even a contest.

It'd get murdered in Steam as-is. Realistically you need adequate terrain graphics and option to scale the models much bigger so you ...

Re: Setup window size

Yeah, 4k 55" TV, can't read that tiny text from the couch.

Game itself is fine, it's just this start screen that doesn't scale. Should be pretty easy fix?

Re: Gunfire stutter?

I'm not actually keeping the log visible but minimized, in case that has any effect.
Having the log as raw text in a separate window usually helps a lot (as compared to have it minimized - but sill in interactive mode). Even if minimized, it seems to me that it is operating in the background ...

Re: Gunfire stutter?

Now you broke it! It was working fine when I tried that scenario just now to make a save near action etc. What was changed .. not much. One thing that was maybe different that I was playing with BT headphones while now the audio went out by Nvidia HDMI.

Might also have been that "restart CMO ...

Re: Gunfire stutter?

Possible workarounds in the meantime:
* Hide the message log
* Use the raw/waterfall (non-interactive) message log mode
* Disable weapon-endgame messages (Options --> Message Log)

I'm not actually keeping the log visible but minimized, in case that has any effect. I'll check those other ...

Can I technically speaking upload save of the Northern inferno if you guys don't have the DLC? Does that incur Banhammer of Doom?

Re: Gunfire stutter?

I actually turned off sounds from CMO and that didn't have any effect. Of course I don't know if that actually turns sound off-off or just sets the volume to zero.

As for this happening on other scenarios, well, not many scenarios devolve into mano-a-mano gun-fest, so .. But yes this is the only ...

Gunfire stutter?

I was playing the Northern Inferno "The Grey Ghost from the East Coast"-scenario last night. This is pretty naval gunfire heavy scenario as only two ships in the scenario have ASuW capable missiles so it comes down to 5 and 8 inch guns mostly. The problem is that on my rig there's some major lag ...

Re: Deport colonists?

Yes, deporting the guys afterwards works but somehow that's just really wrong. Perhaps there should be some other way to handle these independent colonies, whatever it might be. Some kind of project to integrate them with enough resources & money spent?

Deport colonists?

Having to fork lots of lovely credits to support colonists in poor environments is a thing. There's been an issue raised that migration may be borked and allow aliens flood your colonies destroying the economy but that's not what I'm asking.

So, simply, I send 30 million blue-blooded humans to ...

Where is Z'ha'dum again?

So I was told to investigate threat from ancient horrors in some system or other by my advisors.. Only they failed to point me to the direction of said system. In fact I cannot figure out any way to find a system based on a name or in fact even pull up a list of known systems?

Am I dense or this ...

[1.0.2.8] Resolution change does not work

The game lists pretty much every resolution windows advertises in the settings. However they simply do not work, the game cannot change the resolution at all. Whether or not full-screen is selected, you get a smaller window on-screen if the in-game resolution is < desktop resolution.

I reported a ...

Re: Display flicker with GSYNC

The issue isn't just the low framerate (which many adaptive sync monitors can handle) but the very spikey frametimes:

A jump from a slow frame to a fast frame like that ^ is precisely what makes adaptive sync monitors flicker, and what causes that "strobing" in desktop mode. And for reference, I ...

Re: How can I get my fleets to just clear a system?

I had the same problem. Set them to patrol the system, maybe set engagement range to "system". This works at least with the fleet on manual.

Sometimes the "patrol" command appears when the fleet is outside the system, sometimes it doesn't, I guess it depends where you right-click.

Re: Display flicker with GSYNC

Huh, I realized there's a "monitor technology" per-game Nvidia setting that lets you disable GSYNC just for DW2 while leaving the setting to "full screen and windowed" globally.

That's a much better workaround although you're still stuck with 120Hz and 4k unless you change desktop resolution ...

While the 2nd one still has stuff in the cargo bay, so there is no conceivable reason for it.
Looks like my instinct of putting two fleet oilers in a fleet was counter-productive..
