RE: Greatest WWII Movie--EVER!

How come the Battle of Britain hasn't had a mention - best flying sequences in any film because all most all of the flying is real!!

Time magazine photo archive

<r> Came across this project to use AI to catalogue Time Magazines photo archive of over 4,000,000 photos, 95% of which were never published. Should be plenty of interesting photos for the WW2 fan.<br/>

RE: My Battle of Midway

I think the unusual aspect in this situation is that the combat took place at 2 hexes. With the Japanese advantage in aircraft range, how did you manage to get so close before striking?

Interesting to see an early mark Spitfire in the background of the first 2 photos - is it under restoration?

RE: Your worst start to a campaign

This is Scenario 2 with all settings set to historical e.g. US torpedoes, production etc

If I have time, I'll look into an AAR but it will be slow as I don't get a lot of time these days to devote to the game.

Your worst start to a campaign

<t> Just started a new Grand Campaign playing the Allies against the AI (I don't have the time to devote to a PBEM). Now I've been playing this game since it came out and thought I was reasonable against the AI, BUT this campaign has already got me on the defensive.<br/>

RE: Question: American friends.. Oshkosh WI Air Show?

<t> I've been over twice in the past - no one mentioned that it's the BIGGEST aviation event in the world, regularly hosting 10,000+ aircraft of all shapes and sizes and it has it's own float plane base. There is no way a person can see everything in a week, it's just too big.<br/>

You think you have problems :) I've been forced to reinstall windows 7 this weekend after my machine started to throw tantrums and wouldn't boot at all. But I've spent a day and a half trying to get windows update to run without any success :(

If you get the chance, go to the Shuttleworth collection - best collection of WWI aircraft in airworthy condition in the UK.

RE: Truk and evading KB

<t> Tried raiding Truk in an old game against the AI. Must have been late 43 and I had about 1000 aircraft spread around several CV task forces only to find the AI had 2000 aircraft on Truk. Lost 6 CVs over a three day period without denting Truk's defences much. Now I engage in hit and run and only ...

On my third game as Allies v AI, never finished one yet. Still learning after about 6 years playing. Currently in March 42 (Ironman scenario) and doing OK. Check the forums daily. Best game I ever played (apart from Elite on a BBC micro)
