RE: Getting back into TOAW, questions about current build

<t> I've been wondering about this myself. As I am looking forward to starting the VCO tonight. Apparently the last patch I had was the massive 3.2.?? update. Was there other patches besides the 3.4 one and the massive update? Also as a whole, do people feel that, considering AAA seems to be fixed ...

See the Game manual section 19. Appendicies. It goes into detail about how the combat(s) are resolved etc. Maybe a more specific question might receive a better answer. Sorry.

Is there a good guide to understanding the fundamentals of the game?

I'm looking for something that explains how attack and defense values work in terms of gameplay. I'm just not sure how I use them to plan an attack. The manual doesn't really talk about it. I know that there is more to it than spam a bunch of units to have to simply have the larger number.

Game Crashes whenever I select a menu option

<t> Just purchased the game and installed it. The opening logos work fine and the menu starts, but whenever I select a menu option (ie Begin New Game) the game quits, no error messages, it just quits. I'm running it on Windows 7 64bit. Any idea what I can do?<br/>

I finally got it working on Dosbox (had a little trouble mounting the CD Rom), so much fun. I just love how it covers such a wide range of history and locations ...

Cool. How user friendly would you say most HPS titles are? I took at a look at some of the screenshots, but it's hard to gauge difficulty from just that.

Need help looking for a good Age of Rifles successor

<t> Hi, I'm a long time fan of PC wargaming, but I really haven't played in a long time. I'm looking for a good Age of Rifles successor. The game covered such a wide period of conflict and had hundreds if not thousands of scenarios done for it ranging from Colonial English Wars, Napoleon, Africa ...
