RE: Game won't start

OK - I have tried that but there was no change in the program behaviour.

RE: Game won't start

Thanks, do you know if there's there any process ongoing to fix this? I can read the manual and make my own war-noises but its not the same.

RE: Historical Issues : READ ME FIRST

<t> I can't comment on the accuracy of the unit sizes or movement points (although I have seen a comment that they are too 'standardised' in the Barbarossa games). The game is winnable though - albeit that the bar is intentionally set high - as I recall you have to focus single-mindedly on taking ...

Game won't start

<t> Hello, this appears to be the same problem as reported by Philabos a couple of months back, but no resolution is reported in that thread. This is a new installation, direct, not via steam. The launch screen comes up, then on 'play game' it tries to run v1.11.03 in a new blank window for about 4 ...

A couple of Suggestions

<t> Hi, I love the previous versions of this game and the extra granularity and dynamic movement of the new version is even better. <br/>
<br/>
I'll mention a couple of glitches you may already know about;<br/>
<br/>
* I've once or twice seen the AI make carrier strikes in storms.<br/>
* I don ...

Esc Key?

Hello, I don't want to butt in but I've had the same problem frequently on (modal?) dialog boxes - ie like Research or confirmations of various kinds. I think the box is not showing on top as it should - but it always frees it up if you press Esc and try again. Just a thought.

RE: I'm the Worst Player, and other Musings

<t> I'm no expert but just a few thoughts.<br/>
<br/>
I recall it's very discouraging facing a wall of second-echelon russian stacks from Narva to Kiev, just as your own armies tire. In the initial advance I try to remember to manoeuvre and isolate rather than fight with my mobile units to save ...

Thanks for that. Zip attached. For info I'm using V0.79M, if that's correct.

Unhandled Exception in DC:CP

<r> I'm not sure where to post tech issues for DC:CP. I had an unhandled exception playing Volkhov to Tikhvin (which was otherwise going fine) during the AI phase. Resuming the game from autosave gave a similar error. JPG attached. I still have the autosave if needed. Thanks.<br/>

RE: Army Group Boundaries

<t> A couple of observations: when you reassign a PG to another theatre it doesn't seem to adversely affect your relations with either theatre commander - perhaps there should be a chance of it doing so since you're either taking one's toys away to meet someone else's objectives or else allowing a ...

RE: Leningrad is a marshmallow?

<t> Just a couple of ideas; the besieged entrenchment could be reduced progressively by a variable factor, so you have to wait and pick your time to attack. Another thought with any strongpoint, city or not, would be an action card to call on extra Luftwaffe effort for a single action - I'm thinking ...

RE: Winter equipment

Ditto. Maybe once in several games, but I can't recall that it had any consequences. I notice too that the German and Rumanian Mountain divisions have zero winter preparation level (where I think WITE gives them some?) - is that intentional? Thanks.

RE: Ice Fishing on Ladoga

The title page says v1.0 top left, bought on release day.

I should have mentioned that the AI is noticeably better now at avoiding and escaping from pockets.

Ice Fishing on Ladoga

<t> Just 1 quick play-through so far. Brilliant work with lots of replayability. The only odd thing I've noticed is that if you move units onto frozen lakes, like Ladoga, (OK, so don't, but you can), they go out of supply and die of starvation in sight of shore. If they're too close to the enemy to ...

Suggestion for the AI

<t> Hello, I've just enjoyably replayed Case Blue vs the AI, but was reminded that it regularly makes the same mistake - making a good breakthrough but then failing to hold the 'neck' in enough strength, so that the spearhead can be cut off. If it got this right it would be much more challenging ...

RE: Air Combat

<t> Thanks for the info - I had missed the waiver on overstacking in air combat and the issue of structural damage. Does that mean that if you're bombing a normal ground unit you can stack up to the maximum with bombers and then add as many fighter escorts as you like? or is it only if attacking an ...

RE: Reducing Pockets

<t> I should have added that the apparently feeble unit holding a strongpoint often turns out not to be - and you can wreck your own unit by attacking hastily. Keep an eye on the 'Recon Value' of the target hex (top centre right of UI) - which tells you how much you actually know about what's there ...

Reducing Pockets

<t> Halder's pet kitten is senior to me but for what its worth I think the classic approach is to use the the mobile forces to make and hold the encirclement, moving on as soon as the opportunity allows, while the infantry replace them in line and do the chewing, mostly in the direction of advance ...

RE: Questions on low level cards

<t> Hi, you can play the various officer cards whenever they've built up enough command points (the left-most value). Some tasks are much cheaper than others (like recon). Some officers build up command points faster than others (1 or 2 points per turn is typical, so ration your use of the cards ...
